Do people stake with staff of the dead?

I remember people used to stake with staff of the light vs ddsers pre-eoc, why don't people do that with staff of the dead spec on 07?

 

It was changed shortly after release so that the staff of the dead special can only be used when magic is also on, so it cannot be used in a regular dds/whip or dscim stake.
