Agreed I'm only going on her word - could easily be that her family was taught to believe that way or that she only has friends that believe the same things she do. I have no idea - was just something I found interesting. We can safely say some people share her ideology, how much? I have no idea.

Also agree that the damage we endure is not so much, as you said. However, that could possibly be because we take extra precautions now? Just a thought. Also possible that we don't travel to that part of the world so we wouldn't know the violence that they could inflict on us if we were present? Also just rambling. Have no facts or numbers to give you on the amount of americans that travel to said area, lets just say pakistan for the sake of my previous post.

What is a fact is that the middle eastern extremists don't like us Americans and apparently some population of Pakistan (how little or how small I dont know; could be confined just to my friend and nobody else) are okay with the harm they can inflict on us (again no matter how little or how big) because of a previous military mistake

Not against Islam at all, or any other religions. Most muslims are normal, good hearted people who just follow their god. Only a small group of them are extremist and take it to the next level using their religion as an excuse to harm others

 

The U.S. taking extra precautions is an understatement, look at the NSA or the Torture Report. Has it prevented terrorist attacks? Perhaps, but the reports have said no.

Loads of Americans travel to the Middle East, hell I've been to Egypt/Jordan/Turkey, my mom was in Israel two months ago, and my boss just back from Turkey. Perhaps not every other person goes on these trips, but they are not rare, but kay Pakistan.

This population that may or may not be okay with the damage the Taliban may or may not inflict cannot be limited to a "previous military mistake." Drone strikes killing civilians and children are in no way an isolated incident (even if they are effective in killing what we see to be terrorists.) While there may be some definite anger toward the U.S., recent events (Peshawar massacre) as infuriated the citizens of Pakistan. In just a few days Pakistan overturned their ban on executing terrorists and has started (and will likely continue) executing them. Some individuals believe the ban was instituted out of fear of Taliban retaliation, but people are now pissed and are singing I Don't Fuck With You.

Yeah we gave them arms, the CIA literally created the Taliban. As for your question, it depends on your definition of Justified. We could go back-and-forth on what justice, it's a concept that means different things to different people. As for me, I don't think so, so no. I don't think anyone, anywhere should turn a blind-eye to extremist (or anything along the lines of hurting people and such) actions. This is obviously an ideal and is not at all what takes place all around the world. Even so, this doesn't mean I don't understand why they would do such a thing. They have reasons to be angry at the U.S.

These extremists are making a bad name for Islamic beliefs. I don't think any Religion allows such extreme acts (raping women, killing children, etc.) in the name of Religion, but yet it is occurring and we are letting it happen.

No, just because ISIS are killing people and they are muslim, it doesn't make the whole Islam bad but of course it would affect their image. Those ISIS are extremists which means they are funded by some people to kill.

I am not against religion, though I am definitely a secularist. People have the right to believe whatever they want, however, does not make it truth and moral justifications should not be taken from scripture, it should be argued rationally.

As far as I'm aware, Islam is a religion of peace and for the majority they base their values in life from their religious teachings during their upbringing. However, there's unfortunately people who are able to force entire towns into acquiescence of their extremist beliefs, and unfortunately the Wests interactions the the Middle-East haven't done themselves any favors for developing enemies. As I am sure, if the shoe was on the other foot I would want revenge if bombs were dropped all over my town as well as our resources taken.

If you're against some rules in the Qur'an then you're most likely against rules in the Bible too, if you do your research then there's not much good you can find in any religious scripture.

"Muslim Extremists" are not Muslims... All of you should stop categorizing them as Muslims if you truly know Islam and it's way's (Reading the Quran) you would know it strives for peaceful existence with all of man kind, everyone is god's children and all life is sacred.

As for death punishments only like 5 countries out of all the places in the world do that, if it is a part of Islam you would see that endorsed thoughtout many of the 1.2+ billion muslims, but that is not so.
