I am a player from pre 2007 and have just recently got back into it. Although it is undoubtably behind other games i am hooked again and enjoying it so 2015 should be good.

it's fun, i don't understand why some ppl would say the community has been bad, tbh if you find yourself a good clan it can really ease up your experience in rs as they are really helpful with questions , also find a group of friends with a common interest and you'll have fun man

I really like RuneScape right now, and I think it's getting better and better, as it's recovering from the EOC.. I wouldn't be playing if it were not for Legacy mode, and I think alot of others can agree.

Jagex said something about having alot of special plans in store for 2015, so I'm pretty pumped. Who knows, maybe we'll be walking with WASD in the future. :cheer:

not the same. I missthe good ol' days of RS. It will never be the same again sadly no matter how hard they try =/ even if they bring back 2012 version. I wouldn't be shocked...

I think nearly every video game in the world people are nostalgic for the "good old days". It's the same on any video game. The reality may be that a video game simply has a more positive effect when the content is brand new and undiscovered by the user. Once the user has explored and learned everything about the game, it simply does not have the same effect. Therefore, the user thinks they are missing the content, but really what they are missing is the experience of discovering that content for the first time. In that case, it's nearly impossible to re-create that experience.

    I like it.

I'm old school, like 2006-2010 were my most active years I'd guess. But I'm back into EOC now on a new account, got a couple of 99's and around 150m wealth. I'm enjoying it.

I would only play 07 tbh BUT maybe if they start to bring some old things back, like 2010-2011 RS, I would play again, until then, Nah.

2015 doesn't sound special to me, especially not with EOC. First day of EOC was boring and it hasn't changed a bit, legacy doesn't even feel like pre-EOC.

Whatever 2015 brings it will definitely be change, there's the new Inventor/Invention skill which they keep talking about, though apparently they have yet to decide if it'll actually be another skill or just new content added to all the old skills.

As an above poster mentioned I do like what I've been seeing lately with polls, they're reaching out to the community for direction in a way they never have before. With any luck that sort of polling process will eventually lead them to fix all the old skills, which as we know badly need a revamp.

It's true that RS will never be the same as what it was before, but it's definitely still going strong, particularly as other MMOs die out.

    This.

To me, the "good old days" are RS Classic. And I for one, do not want to go back to RS Classic!

On topic though, I'm really looking forward to what 2015 has in store for RS. I recently came back to RS since 2011. After mainly pking from 2003-2011, I'm ready to play the game now. So for me right now, I'm pretty much rediscovering the entire game and having a fun time doing it with a group of people that are fun, helpful and great to play with. I guess it's all about what you make of it really.

I was going to play o7 but I'll admit I'm pretty lazy. Starting over again but would have really annoyed me. So I'm playing legacy mode on RS3. I don't mind it that much. The only annoying thing about the game is how the prices of items are so weird. I mean being able to buy a full set of Torva for 105m. I would have never believed that possible a couple of years back.

I never wanted o7, the server I wanted was 2012. That was the time I most enjoyed playing the game. But unfortunately by removing EOC , it would make Jagex look even worse than they currently are.

The problem I've found in RS3 is the community is shit... People can disagree with me but the amount of times people have attempted to lure or scam is innumerable. I just find people fucking other people over so common in the game, even people I've known for years on the game who scammed me for 40m RS3....40m RS3 which is like what ? 10 pound? 15 bucks?

The games not the same anymore, if you can't accept it being different there's no point trying to play it...

The teasers they showed at Runefest did not seem to exciting. I am hoping that they do the skill reworks that they had promised.

    COULDN'T AGREE ANY MORE!

Also, apparently there's a new continent coming? "Zeah"

Watched clips from the Mod Stream and it seems promising.

I actually like the direction RS is going. I've been playing on and off since 2001. EoC near killed the game but it has recovered. Nothing feels like a grind anymore which is good. Whilst I was opposed to 120m capes, they've probably helped those individuals who seek such goals. A lot more enjoyable aspects of the game if you're willing to have the patience. The problem is, once the game went on miniclip, I noticed a shift with lots of people wanting skills FAST. Since 2001 I have ONE 99. Yes, one. I could max if I tried, but I just don't care about the levels tbh. Too many people get hung up about them, they get those 99s, then moan that RS is going down hill because they are bored and having nothing to do when clanmates aren't online.

Tbh, RS has recovered this year in elf city. The holiday events are also a lot better and more enjoyable. If the planned skill reworks come in 2015 then maybe it'll bring a new influx of players.

There was no golden era of 2007 in terms of player numbers. Most of the players online were bots. People need to get out of this delusion. The golden era people remember was before the wilderness was removed when pkin was booming. Once the wilderness was removed, that was the real cut off point for decline, not EoC. EoC merely accelerated things (of which microtransactions counteracted).

The hard truth is that RS is quite steady at the moment. I still see newbies doing quests and what have you. Its not growing but its not declining. The real trouble was transformers universe which has made them a loss.

In 2007, Runescape was still ridiculously more popular than the game is right now. That's not really refutable. Yeah there were bots and such, but there are bots and such now as well. So while the numbers may be inflated, there were undoubtedly more legitimate players in 2007 as opposed to now.

I attribute that not only to the massive change the game has seen but also the fact there are thousands of more games out now that grab the attention away from Runescape.

And if you don't believe me about bots now go to Green Dragons in Wilderness and you'll see a bot farm or two per world. So the numbers are inflated too now as well.

The most bustling I ever remember the game personally was 2005. 2014 is a far, far cry from that. While the game has progressed and I still enjoy it, most of the time it feels like a single player game now. I would also say that microtransactions did not counteract the impact EoC had on the player-base, it rather perpetuated the problem. MTX in Runescape is more than a minor annoyance in the opinion of many.

Lastly, you say "nothing is a grind anymore, which is good" yet seemingly complain about Runescape players from miniclip wanting skills fast. So which do you support/oppose? Largely playing devils advocate here, but I do respectfully disagree with some of your points (mainly about the player base + microtransactions acting as a counteraction towards EoC losing players). I agree the playerbase was inflated, but it's unfair to point that out without conceding it's also inflated right now.
