What's the current situation regarding real world trading bans? How frequent do they happen, and when they do happen are they for large scale operations (sellers) or even for small time buyers.

A quick search brought up results from last year but couldn't find anything recent.

Small Time Buyer - You flat out will not be perm-banned for RWT.

Big Time Buyer (1B+ per Week) - You may arise suspicion, and you may be banned quickly if you sell, but you will not be banned for buying gold

Small Time Seller - (Under 1B per Week) - You will be able to trade for months without issue. After a long amount of time you may eventually be banned

Big Time Seller (1B+ per week) - You're moving a fair amount of gold, and a ban will hit eventually. Usually will take at least a week or two for Jagex to catch on, can sometimes last for months.

Long story short, don't worry if you are buying gold. If you are selling gold, that's just a cost of doing business.

I have only experience on small scale selling which I haven't yet ever been banned for. (selling only about 200m rs3 gp on average per month, been doing for few years)

I'd say r2pleasents info is correct but it also depends on your luck how quick you will be caught or if you get caught at all. More gold you sell/buy however can increase your chances of being banned quite dramatically.

If I was doing big selling (1B or more per week) I'd just do it every few weeks, in between I'd do smaller trades or so often to make it look legit more.

Not sure if something like this could work out better, maybe R2 knows better.

Just lengthen the periods u buy or sell gp in to weeks or months. I wouldnt try and buy a large amount at once, ull most likelu get caught. Little by little and best to buy not sell haha.

This is the best answer that could have been said. Although do not take everything on it's face value. I've seen big sellers go on for months without being banned, I mean if you're flashing your bank around and telling people how much you are making then it's more likely that you'll get banned more quickly.

Jagex care more about you making money off the game , but to a seller I suppose it's a occupational hazard.

What R2P said^ Also I'd make sure to have multiple accounts on different IPs if I'd RWT.

Also don't confuse my 1b / week into thinking that if in one random week you buy 1b, you will suddenly be flagged. I am talking about averaging 1b in purchases per week over an extended period of time. Like at least a month. And once again, even then, you won't be banned for buying gold.

Using established characters certainly provides you with more safety. We have some chars ourselves that have been trading large amounts for months. I wouldn't worry too much.

Also, there was a time when I was trading on my main for a few times without any issues then there was this once where I bought 500M , seller traded it to me off a Lvl 3 mule account and I was banned within 24 hours for RWT.

I suppose if you are trading mule accounts (accounts that have little activity except trading) often, it will arise suspicions as well.
