F2P removing lobsters

Just read on the home page that 2007 will be open for everyone f2p until dec 31st.
"As a precaution against the possible increase in bots during this offer, we will be removing the ability to catch lobsters on F2P worlds."
Thoughts on this?

Does this mean you can do P2P quests since you have to pay to even play 07, but since everyone is technically getting free membership, P2P are included?

Nice move Jagex. Several idiotic moves/updates are sure to follow.

 

There are still oak logs ---> planks and cowhides...You could probably earn up to 200k an hour botting cows.

 

Jagex is just doing what is right for the real players and you can't blame them for that.

 

With free f2p accounts it's easy with anyone with a decent comp to make 8+ accounts to bot resources.

Yews are off limits as well which imo is a good thing. I could easily gather the supplies to make 8+ accounts and would be catching lobsters in less than a day.

As they say this is somewhat a "trial" and they have stated previously that they don't intent on releasing F2P forever. If they allowed perm F2P I would make a "staking" account like the old days of bh craters. I loved swapping from full sara/zammy/guthix into monk robes to scim/range/2h. Made like 200m+ off rune sets alone... ahh those were the days.

 

I think it's a good idea, but I still think bots will be a problem. I mean, couldn't someone just create 10 fresh accounts and go to mems and bot something else? There are many other ways to make money on mems. What I'm saying is, it's kind of a waste because there are many other ways to make money as a member, so it's kinda just punishing the majority.

You have to stay on the F2P worlds when you play Old RS. So it isn't possible to bot members resources. Right now the best bet is cowhides for botters.

 

I guess they're just taking precaution. I'm sure botters will find other ways though.

 

I think it's a smart move. Atleast they give a shit about their players this time around.

 

Seems like a restriction that is so minor it's not even worth including. I wonder why Jagex would give another reason for discontent for such an insignificant change.
