Getting into a quality research program definitely takes connections and from what I've heard from many of my peers is you need a solid research background if you're looking to go to a good med school.

It'll definitely made an impact to my life. Without them(eventhough it is a hassle), it has changed my life day in and day out. Without the knowledge, I wouldn't have gone further in life and also with the qualifications, it is easier to get a job and also starting pay is high

Just got accepted to Northeastern University and their Honors Program with a full ride and I heard it's a pretty good research university. Hopefully that will help. It feels good to finally get accepted somewhere even though I've only heard back from 2 colleges :p

I have a number of friends there.

In regards to the OP, where you go to school matters a whole lot less than actually going. Having a degree is extremely important in the market today.

    Heard anything good about it?

And yeah I would never consider not getting a degree, but the question is this: if I were to have to choose between a school say ranked #40 and a school ranked #50, would going to the 40 be more beneficial or does it not really matter? From what I've heard it's basically if you get into a top 10 school it's really good but other than that it doesn't matter the difference between a top 25 or 50.

Honestly, college in general is extremely over thought of in terms of education levels and importance in life. It is all about looking good on paper. Imagine going to the bank and whatever you want on the application.

As far as a "better" education, I don't plan on using 95% learnt in college, so doesn't make any college see better than one or another.

If you want to be a bean counter, studying math might help, if you want to own the business that hires the bean counters, your going to need more than a few years in school.

Yeah, they're in engineering and they say it's tough, but good.

#40 vs. #50 school makes virtually no difference in job opportunities in my experience.
