GFX Card Blew Up..

Title.

Ran BIOS for about 2 minutes, switched it off, after than, switched it back on to check fans were blowing the right way etc, (literally 1 second) the gfx card blew up. Luckily the motherboard/psu is still intact. Is this anything but a faulty gfx card? Reckon Amazon will replace it?

 

If you didn't flash it/brick it I imagine your warranty will be covered on the part.

 

Also depends on how recently it was purchased... Amazon is generally pretty good, but yeah. Might have to go to manufacturer instead.

 

last week. theyve sent me a replacement.. unsure on the outcome of the refund however

 

You won't get a refund: They will request that you send back the fried one to them after you receive the replacement and ensure it works.

 

I've already sent it back.

I mean im unsure whether they're gonna charge me for the replacement or not; depending on the fried ones condition.

 

Amazon will not charge you for the fried one if you did not do any modifications to it. They're very good on their policies.

 

Its weird. I ran BIOS for at least 2 minutes and it worked fine. All 3 gfx card fans were spinning.

I turned it off, then back on as i adjusted some fans (case fans) and my PSU cut out. I didnt know what happened, tried turning it on again and my gfx card just blew up.

Sure, it was the Sapphire AMD R9 290 TRI-X OC



The fuckin left fan blew up right in my face.

 

I'm pretty sure you won't be charged for a replacement at this point. This is clearly a manufacturing error.

 

Only the fan blew up or the card itself? Either way, it will be covered...dont worry about it too much. It happens, unfortunately more than it should in the PC world.
