    Virus on Computer?

Some user on Sythe sent me a guide using Skype about League of Legends. Stupidly, I opened it. There were like 3. All files were sent on Skype and were .pdf. Question is, can viruses be obtained from .pdf files? What is the best solution for me?

    *I am using a Mac.

    Virus on Computer?

    Was this sythe user trusted?

I would try to find a file scanner online and upload it there. If it does contain some type of virus, I would try to download a free virus protector from reputable websites.

    Virus on Computer?

A backdoor file or malware file should have an extension of .exe

a file with .pdf is always safe.

Although you should recheck the file to see if there something like this
    " file.pdf.exe " with a pdf document icon.

This kind of file is 100% a malware.

    Virus on Computer?

rats/viruses can be injected into documents and even pictures.

simply because there's no .exe doesn't mean it can't be a virus.

    Virus on Computer?

    W32/Perrun Virus

    "retard alert"
    It's been around since 2002.

edit: Although it's an old virus, I wouldn't be surprised that they developed rats/loggers capable of doing so 12 years later.

    Virus on Computer?

Ok, Are you actually trolling me or are you blind?

"If a .jpg or .txt file that has been altered by W32.Perrun is opened on another, uninfected computer, it will not execute malicious actions on that computer because the virus requires the presence of the Extrk.exe or Textrk.exe file for it to execute and append its malicious content to other files."

    "It drops the files:
Reg.mp3. This is a registry file that the virus uses to modify the registry.
Extrk.exe or Textrk.exe. This is the executable that will be configured in the registry to open all JPEG or TXT files."

    http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2002-061310-4234-99&tabid=2

Because I think you could possibly be blind this is how it works"

Drops a reg modifer so whenever you open a .jpeg it opens extrk.exe, as you can see from what it modifys the registry with

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\open\command
    "(Default)" = (current directory)\EXTRK.EXE %1

    so....

Got any more .jpeg viruses lol

    https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/...210d556b5e25349b3bc5f0fa/analysis/1412614988/

    (spyware was found ^)

You're trying to act as if having malicious code in .jpeg files is impossible, yet if you even *bother* trying to google, there's even tutorials how to inject simple php viruses in jpeg images.

Feel free to have a hissy fit and go on antivirus sites like in the quote, copy/pasting word by word trying to prove me wrong, because i'll just look at it as you being ignorant.

    Virus on Computer?

ok now I know your fucking with me rofl.

php viruses lol. There are php backdoors which are easy as fuck but they aren't viruses

"It has been discovered that the clandestine Trojan can be distributed via social engineering scams using corrupted GIF and JPG files (e.g. thumb_60_60_qgcyz0505.jpg, BestHDWallpapersPack 18_27.jpg). If you click these files you are routed to corrupted websites, so the clandestine infection acts as a backdoor"

So once again it just links back to another infection. It just redirects

    So keep going kid
