    Couple of questions about DayZ

Came across it a while ago when it wasn't a stand alone and it looked interesting, but I didn't know how to start playing

I hear there is a stand-alone now, couple of questions regarding this:

How/where do I start playing this?
    does it cost?
    is it fun?

edit: found it on steam, why do they charge 25 bucks for what isn't a finished game? price has kind of put me off.

Update, I actually just yolo'd it and bought the game. I really suck so far. Like I genuinley think i've died 10+ times from zombies, and don't know my way around at all.

Anyone fancy playing with a newbie?

    Dayz standalone is terrible.

Arma 2 OA DayZ overpoch mod is 50x better.

I'm enjoying the stand alone - but couldn't compare it to Arma because I never played. it's the fucking players that are the problem for me, all assholes.

Honestly, I've played Rust, and the genre altogether just doesn't do it for me. I have a hell of a time for a few days, but after that I never feel the need to log:/

The main problem with the Standalone Alpha is the fact that it's an unfinished game as of right now. There are plenty of bugs that I've personally encountered while playing which at times can make the game unplayable.

The issue when meeting other people in game is if you don't have a mic, or don't sound friendly over the mic other people will likely kill you on site (especially if you don't talk right away) just so they can take your stuff. Even if you do become "friends" with someone or a group of people more times than not they end up killing you as soon as your back is turned.

Standalone has potential to become an awesome game, obviously it's still being developed and things change over time, it feels like a solid game, despite the bugs etc. My personal opinion though is it just doesn't seem to match what other sandbox similar genre games have going for them.

It's still solid, has potential, but personally, it doesn't appeal to me. I haven't tried the actual Arma DayZ but yeah. Not to mention the horrid running simulation it makes you feel as soon as you realise in-game that everything is about 1.5 hours real time running away lol.

Yeah man, I can imagine if this was finished it would be awesome - the though of expanding to say, 200 people a server or something would make it ridiculously fun. For me at the moment I play 50/50 servers yet barely run into anyone, except maybe at airfield (sniped) or elektro (sniped)

    Couple of questions about DayZ

Airfield is where the shit hits the fan in DayZ Standalone. Main aim so far whilst it still being an early access game is to:

    1. Spawn.
    2. Find gear.
    3. Beg to bunch of savages to become allies.
    4. Feel good because you're grouped with savages.
    5. Head to Airfield and wreck some noobs.

Or... Run around the map all day just to feel a true 'running simulator'.

    Couple of questions about DayZ

    1. spawn
    2. find terrible gear
    3. get shot by someone from 300 yards/punched to death off some moron for no reason

Honestly feel like I'll need to play with friends or more people to enjoy this game, and prolong my stay on it.
