I haven't really actively played since the summer. I'm so mad that my 3rd age dropped like a shit ton but I'm looking through the GE and all the prices are crazy...

So someone tell me what has changed since then in terms of prices. I had full third age melee and torva and I can see that's down the drain... What else changed? Ags is at 3m and full bandos is like 10m lol. Any prices rise? What else crashed?

Also what's the best way to train combat now?

Honestly I don't really know what made everything drop so rapidly. I think it has to do with Legacy hype inflating prices for a lot of items and then when a lot of people saw it wasn't what they thought it would be (basically they wanted 100 percent pre-eoc mechanics which it's not close to)...so you had things like Bandos + Ags drop rapidly. Add into that the fact that it's only mid-level content gear for the most part. There are better options, and even if they're only marginally better statistically, you know there are those players that are addicted to maximizing their damage output and won't settle for anything less than the best armour, even if it's minimally better + twenty times the price.

Prices for basically everything are dirt cheap. A set of drygores is very affordable now, Torva is cheap, it's not too hard to get max or near max power gear now for a good price. What caused it to drop so sharply and so fast I couldn't tell you. Just that there's always new content coming out that people want more than the old stuff (like drygores dropping when Araxxor came along and dropped more Tier 90 weapons).

As far as best way to train combat...really anything is good. Combat is so easy to max out in Runescape 3. Slayer is probably the most fun way to do it. Once you get a high enough slayer level, Airuts give something like 1.6k combat xp per kill....I easily got 99's in combat stats camping airuts (and made like 3-4m an hour).

I was really hoping you'd respond, you know your stuff :p Umm, did anything rise though? Also, thanks a lot for your response, it's helpful.

    No problem man.

Nothing off the top of my head that isn't a discontinued item like Partyhats/Santa (Red/Black)/Masks have risen. I think even masks have taken a hit and are a good bit cheaper than they were even 6 months or 12 months ago.

Pretty much all the stuff that continues to flow into the game becomes cheaper + cheaper and is phased out by any new content that comes along.

Let's look at the most popular items:
Drygores: Dropped significantly, crashed could even be an appropriate term.
Torva: Crashed significantly, and will probably keep dropping.
AGS: Became near worthless post legacy update + people not being too thrilled with it.
    Bandos: Same as AGS.
Raw materials (Dragon Bones, Fish, Dragonhide, Runes): All have pretty much dropped. Unfortunately, with legacy came an influx of bots. Jagex refuses to deal with these bots likely because they enjoy the revenue they get from them (paying for memberships and such). It's a real pain in the ass because I made an account from scratch to do a rags to riches series and bots have pretty much put that goal to bed for the time being.
Third Age: Not as expensive as it used to be, but still has a pretty hefty price tag.
Weapons in general: Most just continue to drop as more and more of every item is entered into the game.
Armour in general: Same as weapons.
Rares: The most stable items, sometimes see frequent rises. But even items like H'ween masks, Santas, and Christmas Crackers have not been immune to price drops.

It's so annoying that I own all the items you listed. My third age was supposed to be a nice expensive outfit, torva for training, I banked 99 cooking in wine and 99 prayer in frosts in my bank, so much shit. If I had just waited like a few months I would have saved so much,,,,

It is very frustrating. I ended up waiting on getting Torva when it was like 400m, now not even a year later and a set is barely over 100M.

Drygores I lost about 60m on. Got them to finish up Slayer and lost money.

I sold the 3 AGS'S I had in my bank at like, 20-25m each because I knew post legacy they'd crash (just not that badly!).

I had a ton of raw materials that I lost money on, however. Frost dragon bones, Dragon Bones, Dragonhides, Sharks, Rocktails....all took a hit because of the scourge of bots that Jagex refuses to deal with.

That's why a good rule of thumb for leaving Runescape for an extended period of time is to get rid of all of those types of items. Basically, if it's not discontinued and bots are running rampant in the game, SELL EVERYTHING.

The good news is, PvM is not bad money at all. If you go QBD or Airuts, you can make very solid profits per/hr and that's not an activity that you'll find bots at very often, if ever. And of course QBD is instanced so you don't have to worry about competition for resources there.

Sadly though, gone are the days of skilling for cash. It's garbage cash. You're better off working a real world job and devoting 1 shift to buying gp lol.

But PVM can get you all the money you'd ever need for skills, gear, etc.

I just hate EoC a lot to do PVMing the right way. I use Revolution for Slayer, but that's about it. I watched a video of QBDers and it looks insanely difficult to get the hang of, don't really think it's for me. Wish you can boss fight on legacy :(

Look up a guide for legacy QBD, I was watching a stream where a kid was legacy QBDing and he seemed to be successful.

Slayer will always be the most efficient way to train melee. By using VIP tickets and preferred tasks, you would break even in slayer points by skipping all tasks except for airuts and darkbeasts. With this method, and the use of alts to help speed up kills, it is possible to get over 1m melee xp/h and 600k slayer xp/h. Without alts it would be 600k melee xp/h and 260k slayer xp/h. As for mage and range, both can be done at the abyss. The abyss method will get 600k xp/h and is fairly afk. If you want summoning charms, you can barrage dagannoths or kill waterfiends for similar experience rates. Range can also be done in hardmode dungeons by overloading and leaving the dungeon after the overload runs out. Hardmode range is near 700k xp/h with the use of supreme overloads.

Is this not just a case of RS3 producing more advanced and better gear that the old stuff has perished in price? not logged in for a good while

The Runescape Market just turned to shit straight after Combat Fixes and PVM updates, it turned out pretty bad for the Economy, you could really already tell.
