That's 28 models that have to be assembled and painted. 20 paints to paint with and 3 paint brushes for various work.

I'm thinking about dropping 3 or 4 paints and picking up my faction dice.

How hard is it to get into that kind of hobby. Alway been curious just not sure if I'd have the patience

 

It costs a lot of money, takes a lot of time and patience, and it very rewarding when you can set some models on the table and battle it out with some friends.

If you have a local game store that runs Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40k, Warmachine/Hordes, Kings of War, Dystopian Wars, Malifuax, Bolt Action, or Wings of Glory then I would go talk them about getting into one of them. Anything Warhammer is expensive as hell if you're not buying online, Warmachine/Hordes is lightly cheaper. I can get a tournament army ready for around $350 or so. The army in the pictures is 35 points and it will be used in a beginner league. I don't play any of the rest of them but have looked into them. Kings of War is essentially a cheaper and more streamlined version of Warhammmer Fantasy. Bolt Action is a WWII game as is Wings of Glory but WoG is about planes. Dystopian Wars is in a kind of limbo between naval and ground combat.

 

Tbh that sounds fun as hell. I think I would be pretty into something like that. Seems pretty legit too that you can "I assume" custom paint your warriors or clan however you wanted. Not sure how I would find people who also play if I started.

It is really fun and addicting. You can paint them however you want. Warhammer is really open to even customizing (called Conversions) your models with parts of other models to make them look how you want. Warmahordes isn't quite as open to that, but people still do.

My suggestion is to find a comic book shop or a store that sells magic cards and there will be a group there that probably plays something Warhammer.

I will probalby be 10 - 15 man hours in assembly of the models, and then 50+ man hours in painting. This is my second army I've put together. The first was for a game called Dark Age. I am actually thinking about selling the models and the books I have for it. Hit me up if you're interested in it. It is a 500 point army, the rule book, and a faction list fluff book. I'd give you a good deal on.

How many figures total is in an army? I have a comic store in town I'll have to ask them about it. If not I know when I visit my cousin he has a store by him I know will have to have it.

Definitely going to check into war hammer, I would be more into something medieval and weapon based. Even if I couldn't find anyone else to play I'd just head to head my own guys

 

Warhammer 40k is in the future, the year 40k actually. Warhammer fantasy is probably what you'll like, but I really suggest you go with Kings of War if you do that. They're doing a kickstarter right now and you get 2 copies of their new rulebook, tokens, an app for army building, 2 starter armies or 1 mega starter army, and stretch goals.

In the Dark Age army it is around 20 I think. I haven't got a chance to play because the people I bought them with lost interest and are only playing Warmahordes.

 

Those are so badass! I found some different ones for 40k looking at it. I must say I'm pretty into space wolves armour assault. Lol you're going to get my wife pissed at me. expensive but damn these are pretty sweet

 

I like the lore of 40k better and the gameplay of WHFB better. If I play 40k I'd play Tyranids or Necrons and WHFB I'd play Dwarves or Tomb Kings.

 

I saw the Tyranids they kinda look like zerg from starcraft which makes me want to play this even more. I'm off to bed for sure going to start looking into this tomorrow
