New to Working Out - Progress Thread? Looking for advice, motivated and determined!

    Hello Sythe.

I'm an 18 year old residing in Ontario, Canada. I've opened a new chapter in my life and I need change. I want to start working out and I'm extremely motivated to better my state of mind and I decided I would take on building muscle. I just bought a gym membership and some Mutant Mass protein powder for starters. My diet isn't something I'm going o be able to focus on fully as of now due to money and such but I will be doing everything I can to eat healthy and mind my intake.

I'm still in planning stages for routines and stuff but my main goal is to build a lot of muscle. As I said, I'm very motivated to better my physique and I'm open to all suggestions since I'm starting from scratch. All feedback is greatly appreciated!

As of October 29th, 2014 this is my body; "Ground Zero"

Feel free to join in on my thread above yours. Great pics you have the slim and low bodyfat now all you need to focus on is throwing that muscle on effectively and properly!

The first thing you want to do is to decide what you REALLY want for you. Not what you think you want. As in what you think you are capable of doing, after that you should choose a workout program. There are plenty online.

And honestly, if you just joined a gym, dont bother buying anything for "muscle grown". Most of the products are a ripoff, you DO NOT need them.

PM me if you have any questions about what I just said.

It was a mistake opening this up at school with a bunch of girls behind me. THANKS OP

Go on reddit.com/r/bodybuilding though. Get a program and a routine. Don't be an idiot like me and just go to the gym and do whatever, you'll get 0 results that way.

First book an appointment with a personal trainer in the gym, he will give you a plan on what to do in the gym
Then all you need is commitment and patience and you'll get big in no time

Worst advice on this thread. If you want to follow "broscience" and do it the hard way get with a trainer. If you're smart go on reddit/4chan's fitness boards and lurk for awhile and learn about it all.

Yeah, most gym trainers don't even know what the fuck they're doing.

Like today I overheard them telling a guy to not let the bar drop to his chest while doing the bench and only go about 90 degrees. Dumbest fucking advice ever.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard..., so a bunch of fat nerds who spend all their time on reddit know more about working out then a qualified professional at his job? smh

Yes. bodybuilding.com or whatever it is, /fit/ and /r/fitness or /r/bodybuilding are the best sources of correct information. That, men's health mag/site and at times, trainers, are the routes one should check before starting a new program.

Trainers are mostly stupid. If you want real advice, P.M me I was just as skinny as you, shitty genetics, small ankles, small wrists, but I've made serious gains in the past two years.

For you, I'd shove as much pasta as you possibly could into yourself after your workouts, and do mass protein before workouts.
If you do intense enough workouts you'll see results very, very quickly.

Nice to see you have motivation, that's all it takes, you've gotta start somewhere. Don't start out with anything crazy but go to the gym to have fun and set goals for yourself man. Do the same workouts for a while (few months) so that you build more muscle memory and build your form up.

eat enough of your macros but emphasis on protein, eat your maintenance Calories [including the working out Calories], + extra 500 Calories every day that you work and just eat maintenance Calories on the days you don't work out so you'll minimize fat gain and maximize muscle/strength gains.
