80 for students... See if you can find a college student that is willing to give you a hand.

The first build is a bit silly. No way would I buy this. The second, on the other hand, is a great build. You could certainly do without the watercooler on it though.

The second build, in terms of gaming framerates primarily, would walk all over your first build. Handily. the 280x is a vastly better card than the 760. My suggestion on this second build is to ditch the cooler and just run the included stock cooler until you feel the need to upgrade. Then, see below to save more money on windows.

also another good build. at this budget level, particularly for the OP who likely doesn't have any business overclocking, an i5-4440 would be a better buy for him. save the 50 bucks, and put it elsewhere such as into the video card. Even though it is a basic i5, it is still way more than enough for current gaming.

THEN, go to microsoft's website, download Windows 10 Technical preview and install it for FREE. I am currently Running this OS on my work laptop for some time now.... and am loving it. Thinking about putting it on my gaming rig. Have had ZERO issues with it. There are a lot of warnings during installation about the fact that it is not a finished product and there is possibility for things to go wrong, but I believe that this is a very polished product for a beta. I have seen or heard of no data loss or crashes with it. I trust it 100 percent as a full-time OS, beta or not. Microsoft is back on the right path with windows 10. You can find it here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso
