Old School getting a bit boring?

Yeah... There's only so much to do in RS07 and the community is opposed to change so it does become stale after some time.

 

That is true, I am kind of getting sick of the game as the skilling is boring, however staking is always fun so idk that part isnt that stale lol

 

That's because it's Old School for a reason, if we wanted shitty content added in every week we'd play Runescape/PaytoWinScape3

 

To be fair, actual RS in 2004-2007 did have weekly updates or other stuff added in too.

But yeah I agree that a reduced content development speed is to be expected, partly because the community is often objected to new content, and partly because this is still a side project to them while RS3 is the main game.

 

Weekly updates that were worthwhile, not cosmetic pay to win/get items and xp inflations. Not empty content or content that is dead on arrival or meaningless to play (IE a monster offering a new drop - the new drop being lower tiered than a current item thus worthless before the first item ever gets into the actual game).

Seeing how much different Runescape 3 is from 2007, that's exactly why people don't want a lot of updates in OSRS. They saw how Jagex drastically changed the game the first time. 2007 is not meant to be that. It's like Runescape Classic, mostly, in that it adheres to all of the stuff that was there in 2007 (its intended time period, roughly), with some content from 2008 being added (which is fine). Over implementation of content would just make 07 a Pseudo-Runescape 3...nobody wants that.

The amount of content that is added in 07 is more than adequate, Corp adds a whole new dimension to bossing and makes leveling rewarding again. But too many updates = not good and won't pass polls. If someone is bored of 07 they're probably bored of Runescape in general, because while there is technically more content in Runescape 3, most of it is empty, dead, or both.

Besides, all the weekly updates that had happened from 2004-2007 were already in Old School, so I'm not really seeing the relevance there. The point is, it's not 2007 anymore. Minimal updates + maintenance is needed to keep the hardcore 07'ers afloat (which the version was intended for in the first place, 2007 is not for casual Runescape players that want everything easy). I'm all for some updates (wanted Corp, Wilderness updates were fine, Clue scroll stuff was cool), but that doesn't mean it needs to become over-saturated.

 

Splitting up the community in general between RS3 and Old School Runescape was a bad decision in my opinion. I would rather have 1 huge community playing rather than split communities. RS3 has too many updates while 07 has too few imo. Jagex needs to find the perfect balance

 

The problem is most of the people left Runescape entirely before 2007 / Old School released. It catered to an older + veteran demographic. I know a lot of my friends list came back once Old School came out that had left the core game for many reasons.

 

Just find a group of people to do other things around the game! Everything is more fun with multiple people.

 

All games get boring after some time. Everyone moves on, and nothing lasts forever. If you're forcing yourself to play a game, you probably should switch games. I've only forced myself to play games for the sake of storyline. I only quit RS because all of my virtual buddies quit RS. Nothing more, nothing less. I stopped liking the actual game way before I quit.

 

Whenever I get bored I make a new PKing/staking account and do high risks. Keeps things interesting.

 

I bleed I have no idea how you stick to runecrafting, it's a silent killer.

 

It really is haha, the only good thing that Runecrafting does for everyone is that once you do that in 07 you feel like you can do anything.

It also makes everything else way less boring.

After 1-85 rc combat is much more fun for me. :laugh:

 

RuneScape gets pretty boring after a while. I guess thats just how most games goes, if you play it like a full time game you will eventually get bored of it.

 

I got bored of 07 pretty quickly. The reason I went to 07 is for the experience but with the release of ironman I've stuck with that.

 

I'm hoping to get stats for barrows. Try it with me. Then we can boss together later on? all about the slow grind.

well not as much but most of the time.

 

That's true, when I still played I always enjoyed doing quests and clue scrolls.

 

Setting your self a new goal/achievement to hit, will increase your enjoyment of the game, ive been in your situation a few times ..
