I live close to and work in dallas kiddo, I think ebola is a far more immediate threat to me than cancer.

Saying 40% WILL get it in their lifetime is not 40%. Thats a potential 40% at somepoint or other. It also includes lots of less deadly cancers.

My point is, ebolas risk is 100% . If its around, you MAY get it. Now its been brought into to the US it potentially threatens the country. Sure its pretty well contained now, but that doesnt make it any less of a threat. Diseases often mutate or adapt to modern medicines, all it takes is a slight mutation for this to become a full blown pandemic.

Cancer simply doesnt hold that connotation, certainly not the immediacy either.

Ebola actually originated in fruit bats, which is common cuisine for some African tribes. It wasn't eating the fruit bats that lead to it (as cooking the meat/drying it kills the bacteria/whatever), it was the people cooking it, then cutting themselves while preparing/cooking the meal and letting it into their blood stream.
