So what exactly is a stall? I read what you said, but am not understanding the effect?

 

Basically how it works is during the animation of your attack (before the damage appears) you can use these items. Once you use them it puts your character through an action "stall" or "animation" which delays anything happening to your character for its duration.

If used correctly you and your opponents attack animation will play, the damage you deal to them will appear first, and then once your stall is over the damage they did to you will appear. Meaning if the stake comes down to the last hit you will almost guaranteed get the win.

Because by default on rs3 and 07, the person whose damage appears first is random every hit, you execute a stall to have the advantage of your hit showing first.
