What would you say the minimum amount of money to spend to get a solid gaming laptop would be? It'd be to pretty much run Runescape accounts and play some games here and there. Thanks
I recently traded some guy in my city $200 and my gaming pc build/monitors/speakers/etc. for a Asus ROG laptop... It was a good deal because I spent $800 building the computer before I sold it. Therefore I checked the $1000 for the poll. My exact model is: Asus G750JZ I play everything including BF4 and ESO on Ultra settings, never dipping in FPS. If you're not looking to be hardcore gaming and only play RS and a few others when you get bored, I'd suggest getting either a Samsung Series 7 for portability or a Asus ROG G750JM (less ram and slightly less GPU which means less cost at around $1000 brand new)
Thanks for response. Yeah I won't hardcore game. I just have a lot of RS accounts up and other applications going on in the background. My Macbook can't handle it sometimes so I'm looking to get a gaming laptop to just move everything gaming related to that one and keep the mac as a school laptop.
If you're looking for something to just make as a "side" computer, why not just build a mini/micro-PC? I mean you could theoretically get better performance and bang-for-your-buck out of it (I think?) I personally run a giant Fractal Design case, but I am not sure how their minis compare. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352027 But you could theoretically build a decent (and relatively cheap [AMD]) PC off of it. Or is there another reason for you getting a second laptop? Like are you traveling all the time?
Minimum for a gaming laptop I would argue is around $1000 - $1200. I just got one from Sager. They now have the 900 series mobile nvidia cards but you're probably going to pay $1500 or so to get them, otherwise go with an np7358 like I got. i7-4710MQ, 860m 2gb maxwell, 15.6" matte screen, 12gb RAM, a 120gb SSD and a 1TB HDD 7200, dual-band intel wireless card. It has 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port, 1 eSATA/USB 3.0 port, HDMI, VGA, Ethernet, backlit keyboard. It was $1229 all together. If you want I can run some benchmarks and share them, because I forgot the ones I did when I first got it. If you don't want high performance then go with the Lenovo Y50 with the i5 in it. It's like $750.
It's just for forums and running 20+ RS accounts at a time. Not really planning on playing games such as ESO and stuff.
Lucky for you I do bot a small gold farm on the side. I only run 6 at most to avoid bans, so for your 20+ I wouldn't know. But when botting on the lower graphics settings in game, the 6 I have do not interrupt my gameplay on other games. Maybe a bit of lag when playing BF4 online (but thats expected when 6 rs accs are active). I believe that you should easily be able to purchase an Asus ROG 750JW or JZ (one has 16gb of ram other has 32gb). Personally I'd go with the most ram you could afford. I also have a macbook air which I've been reluctant to get rid of, portability is nice. But in your case, a full sized macbook would be worth letting go for one of these gaming laptops.
