    Virus/Rootkit.

So I have a virus and probably a root kit on my pc (Thinkin I got it from the vlc media player download from cnet as that is when it started). I allowed it with avg and now nothing on my pc can find it (Avg, malwarebytes, avast, security essentials). I installed avast after. I see someone "got help" on a website about something they couldn't get rid of. They were told to download rouge killer, TDSSkiller, Adw cleaner, security check, OTL, and ESET online scanner. are these all legit? if so I'm going to follow in the footsteps posted so I can fix my pc.

    Virus/Rootkit.

From my experience, Malwarebytes detects just about anything. I've never heard of any of those programs you mentioned, so just to be safe you mine as well reinstall windows.

    Virus/Rootkit.

Im sure you didnt get it from downloading vlc player from cnet as they dont keep malicious files up
Anyways, download "kaspersky" i can guarantee it will find something if theres even a virus on your PC.

    Virus/Rootkit.

ESET is the creator of Nod32 probably was one of the best virus scanners on the market so that can be trusted.

All the other things you mentioned are for finding viruses or malware affecting your computer but it is NOT for novices to use because it may damage your computer if you delete something inadvertently but are also all trusted.

I'd suggest posting on geekstogo for stingy viruses that you can't find.

How are you even certain you have a virus anyway? What are some of the symptoms your PC is showing?
