Runescape addictions

I've recently started playing OSRS again and within a week I'm pretty damn addicted. Obviously this wouldn't be a problem but I have finals in a month so I'm trying to hold off until I have my 4 months of summer holidays.

Share some stories about your runescape addictions and how you've dealt with it? Has anyone else gone to extreme efforts like me?

Yesterday I changed my password to random letters (though I can still use my email to recover). So I decided to place my account in the wilderness with 5 good items, very little HP, and no item protect to 'encourage' me not to log in and play. My motive behind this is that in a month when my exams are over a friend has agreed to meet me here and help me get out of the wilderness safely.

RS is quite addictive, perhaps the only way to quit is suicide bot. Have any of you taken this extreme approach?

 

I've the same problem but I don't think I'm willing to go to the same extremes as you are to quit it since I know it has to be a conscious choice to study. If I do something like that I know I'll simply replace it with another distraction.

 

Well as a temporary solution just end your membership until you're ready to play. As a permanent solution I'm all about just selling the account and at least making some $ to pursue something else with instead of just throwing it away.

Thankfully I've never been super addicted to RS

 

I've started to get distracted on other things but it makes studying a lot easier when I don't have instant access to scape.

I'm so sad that I sold my almost maxed main then bought it back when I was bored and saw the guy selling it. Though he was underselling it so I could make a nice profit.

 

I've never been as addicted to RS as you are mate but If I were you, as Sanctuary said"end your membership" I would simply do that bro. But again Study>RS

 

I've never really been very addicted to rs though I enjoy playing it from time to time. However I feel that having other activities in your life that u deem more important definitely helps not getting addicted

 

Like 5 years back I was badly addicted to runescape and always when I got back home from school almost first thing I would do was open rs. I could play so many hours per day that I have even no idea how much I played (way too much).
Gladly things have changed in my life and I barely have any time to play now. I'm quite sure things will change for you as well, you most likely will get bored more easily when playing and will do something else instead.

I didn't need to do anything extreme, I just thought playing that much is waste of precious time and I started using time more effectively on other things.

 

I kinda see where you're coming from. But if it's really that big of a problem, get rid of the source.

Sell it. Cancel membership. Get it banned.

I usually get addicted for a month or so then my interest dies out lol. I just don't want to play anymore, never had to force myself not to.

 

I remember, I was VERY Addicted between 2008 and 2011 and I hated it. I always played like 12 - 18 Hours a day and I felt everyday very tired and I was very bored, but luckily I don't play that much anymore, if you don't want to play just cancel membership or give the account to a irl friend.

 

I continuously go through these addictions, and I have struggled in school due to it, I did quit for a month and now I have come back and I am back to being addicted, I might have to do what you do just so I don't get on and fuck my grades up...

 

how about afk fish or something while you study

 

i try avoiding the grinding by outsourcing that, and do do like a hour a day pking so i enjoy rs but it isnt time consuming

 

Yeah that is what I'm doing now. I'm just checking my account after 6 hours of guthans afk, nice 70k/hr+ .

 

Dude just go to the gym, get them aesthetics and that will make u stay away from rs FOR SURE. Yw

 

I used to be extremely addicted to Runescape (10-16 hours/day). One day I just decided I had to quit, so I sold all of my gold and everything I owned and donated the money to charity so I wouldn't be tempted to buy it back. It really helped a lot, and now I just get on to do farm runs once a day.

my life has been revolved around the gym/nutrition for 4 years and i still RS haha
not often, but i make money off it and play a tiny bit

never had that much of an addiction, except when I'm close to a 99 i tend to nerd 24/7 until i achieve it.
otherwise i can easily stop playing, but i enjoy the 1-3 hours spare time when i have it, to either pk/pvm

 

It was an addiction to an extent of choosing it over other beneficiaries. I tried to force a macro and rwt ban, but that didn't work out, so I just let the membership run out. I'll always keep the account in my possession, just so I know my accomplishments exist.
