Nobody will ever care about the game like the Gowers and each new CEO will have less sentimental attachment to the game, and ultimately will just see it go downhill from the game it was.

I was never really impressed with MMG as CEO. Like it's been mentioned before , it's difficult to discern how much of the company's development over the past 6 years he influenced.

    Nothing will change.

The only thing that i can see for the next CEO to BE ABLE to change anything about the game killer (micro transactions) is buy an amount of shares back from the other american fucktard company.

A lot of those reviews that Nike pointed out, which people can take with however much credibility they want, MMG would personally have to approve all content updates. If that's true, it would certainly seem to suggest that he had total power, so while I do think IVP is partially responsible for the drastic changes in Runescape, it seems like MMG was the poster child for said changes, especially if the accusations are true, which we can never really know for sure.

As most say here, I doubt anything will change, but its nice to have a new face.

This is what happens when 1 company gets lucky with one game becoming viral and can't think of another (or create another that's any good). If jagex's other projected had at least been somewhat successful and they got some income from somewhere else, I'm not sure if they would've sold part of the company or introduced microtransactions. Oh well, its about time. lol--games rarely last forever (unless its pokemon :p)

I'm wondering what your opinion on MMG is if you think this. Pretty sure we all know by now that CEOs won't have much power when a company has a grip on the game. Not much of a change could come. The company that holds a major stake and looks at the game as a quick profit, which means I doubt they have any long term interest.

I don't keep up with RS and don't play it anymore, but I do see major updates being discussed on Sythe from time to time to get a grasp on what they're doing. Runescape is running out of 1 trick ponies.

My opinion on MMG is honestly like a lot of others, very polarizing. I don't hate the guy, but I haven't exactly been wowed by his offerings either. The reviews that Nike pointed out always were dripping with resentment towards MMG, saying that a lot of content would be destroyed on his say alone, even when said content took months and months of development time and tweaking. Many also argue that MMG had grandiose expectations in terms of content updates and the timetable in which he set forth for projects to be completed. This led to a lot of half-hearted content (allegedly) that was rushed and rife with glitches.

Then you also have members of Jagex saying that they spent more time on microtransaction content than actual core content.

So, I see what you're saying and agree whole-heartedly, there's only so much that MMG could have done, with IVP breathing down his neck constantly and having a majority stake in the company (a company that has already been linked to the death of Maplestory).

Honestly, Runescape could get worse from here on out. Pips confirmed that he is NOT going to be the new CEO of Jagex. It is likely that it will be a corporate lackey of IVP that will reflect their monetizing of EVERYTHING notions and MTX will likely increase even more in the absence of MMG. MMG might have been the devil of Runescape, but he was the devil we knew..the devil we recognized..the devil that we could sometimes reason with. However, even when reasoned with, MMG would seemingly go back on his word, whether at the discretion of himself or IVP can never truly be known, but things like promising less promotions and saying Silverhawk boots was a mistake turned out to be blatant lies..as we basically have a money related promotion every month and Silverhawk boots and feathers are being introduced in surplus as a result of this raffle (yet another promotion). And making Silverhawk feathers even more plentiful further tarnishes the Agility skill, much like Runespan did for RC.

Ultimately, we could either get a new CEO who does a slightly better job, or we could really be in the shits now...as we get an IVP yes boy to run the ENTIRE company. And let's all be real, the entire company is Runescape. That piece of shit transformers game probably lost all of the money they've made from micro-transactions.

The CEO acts as a rubber stamp for everything. As long as he's making money, it's a go. The new CEO won't do anything to stop from "killing" Runescape. Money talks.

At this point, too, as Hamouze says "money talks". I also think that's a worrying piece as well, I think we're just going to get an IVP man as CEO. A guy who probably doesn't even KNOW anything about Runescape. Who has never played the game and never will.

That's my worst fear with this. The grass really might not be greener on the other side of MMG's departure.

But ultimately, I'm not going to let it bother me. I'm going to enjoy Runescape as much as possible before its demise. Every game eventually dies, and I have to credit Runescape for even getting this far, a game that's been around forever and has had to appeal to a couple of different generations of gamers. The MTX and easy scape stuff bothers me, sure, but I still enjoy the game.

And there are still those days where you just have an outright blast playing. For example, I finally grew a set and went and did Jad for the first time ever yesterday. I had immense amounts of genuine fun. Reminded me of the good old days, even doing it in EoC was a nice change of pace and challenge.

That's why I still play Runescape. Days like those. They're fewer and far between nowadays, but I still enjoy the game. I'm going to try not to sweat worrying about the new CEO unless he wants to shut down the game completely or something. I'm hoping that I'll get to retire from the game on my own terms, not someone elses.

In my opinion it won't matter much as even though he did have the "CEO" title, in the end I felt like he didn't do much and most of the shit that was done wasn't even like invented or thought of by him, so not much of a change, unless someone really good enters and does a shit ton...
