I know that you have to wait 28 days + 1 possible week for a name to be available in the system after it has been taken, but what if someone changes their display name twice? Is the original name then available for grabs?
Ex:

Display name #1: Cat
Changed display name #2: Bat

Now it will say "Bat (Last known as: Cat)"

But what if they change the name one more time

Display name #2: Bat
Display name #3: Hat

Now it will say "Hat (Last known as: Bat)"

Will "Cat" then be available to be taken or do you still have to wait 28 more days?

 

It will delete the name Cat on your account, and make it available to others.

It will also save the name Bat, if you change it to Hat.

Every two name changes will overwrite the 3rd one, unless you change it back.

 

You can also change it to the same thing using the account management page(i believe this still works) so change from Cat to Bat, then from Bat to Bat and it would free up Cat, using bonds for char name changers you can therefore xfer a name in seconds
