Account Recovery History Resets?

It must have been about three years ago now, but I remember a service that runescape support used to offer for accounts that were hacked whereby they would write off all old recovery information for the account so that the hacker couldn't continue to recover/lock the account with information that both parties knew. It was only used in situations where both people in control of the account had access to the information and could continue to recover back the account between themselves rendering the account unusable.

Obviously this was subject to heavy scrutiny from the JMods.

I was wondering if Jagex still did this? I can't find the thread anywhere anymore; in fact I cant even remember what it was called. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and if they do, do you have any experiences with it?

I'm with Roary. I've been playing 12 years and never once heard of this. Do you have a screenshot or something for it?

 

This exists. You have to tweet them via twitter and they'll help you out and remove all your past information so hacker can't recover it.

 

i remember this, it does exist i have resetted my account details because i forgot the answers to JAG, if i remember correctly it was somewhere in the support centre on runescape forums

 

Yeah, I've scoured the support forums and can no longer find it.

I thought it might have been such a little known thing that there wouldn't be much current info on it - appears I was correct. Oh well, I'll take a shot at tweeting them and see what happens.

 

if they remove it all then surely it can be recovered easier?

im not sure how it works but once you provide them with the correct info, and if the ip's match they send and email to set a password and continue on from there

 

I mean it seems like it would be a service offered, but it would only happen in the case that 2 people know the info and it just keeps getting recovered back and forth. However, I personally haven't heard of this

 

You can also reset them by recovering your account and during the procedure, saying you did not set those new recovery questions and put the answers for the old questions in a text box at the end.
