Super Smash Brothers: Melee!

Yo who else plays this absolutely phenomenal game? I've been playing and in the competitive scene for maybe 8 months now. The technicality and depth of this game is absolutely insane. This video sums it up rather well.



There's tons more online and the scene is absolutely exploding right now, taking place at tournaments like EVO and MLG. If anyone is interested I'll update this thread with some cool info and resources, tournament listing, etc. It's real cool stuff.

I play semi competitively with a few of my friends. Its a lot of fun!

I'd also recommend the docs, even to people who just played when they were kids.

 

It's a brilliant game. After exams I started playing it with friends it's just a blast to play even just purely for fun.

Awesome! It really is just an overall great game to play. Who do you guys play as most frequently? I love all the characters so much, but I only really play Sheik, Marth, Roy, Captain Falcon and Ganondorf.

 

Easily one of the most fun games ever made. Played it on the 64 and played Brawl on the Wii.

 

I generally just play Marth. Falco is in the works but not really up to par yet.

 

I fucking loved this game. They actually have tournaments with cash prizes every Thursday where I live at a game style bar.

My favorites were always pikachu and donkey kong

 

bro pink luigi all the way. His slaps are so OP

 

I preferred to use fox, but I was decent with pikachu, mario, marth, mewtwo, and falco

 

My favorite character is probably Jigglypuff she kicks ass. Doesn't come in great colors but still kicks ass on certain maps.

 

Damn right they are. His wavedash is insane too. Wavedash -> Chop is nasty

Great spacing/mindgames character. Her b-air and n-air are sick are edge guarding.

 

To people who have played both Brawl and Melee:

What are your opinions on each?

Do you have a preferred game?

Just interested in hearing what people think

 

I've played both extensively . . . like hours and hours and hours. I prefer Melee by a huuuuuuge margin - it's a much better, smoother, faster style of play. Brawl is slow and the engine really rewards defensive play.

 

Melee is better for sure.
Brawl is more fun if you play with people who don't know what they're doing, but melee is so much more focused on strategy.

I'm stoked for the 3ds version, I'll finally be able to play some smash bros and i don't have to buy an expensive wii for it

 

I wasn't aware a 3DS version was coming out but i'm glad to hear it!

Any ideas how the physics engine will compare to melee/brawl?

 

I was so pro at this game when it first came out. Easily one of the top games of its genre. This thread makes me want to go out and buy the damn game again.
Captain Falcon always seemed to be the best for me.

 

Some of my friends did just that once we played it once at a party. The disc is kinda of expensive now @ like $40 though

 

The 3DS version is going to be sick because it runs full stereoscopic 3D at 60 fps. The physics engine actually looks really fluid and fun. Check this out it has tons of info.
