Cell Phone Upgrades

Hey everyone! I have an upgrade on August 18th (2 days away) and I am very excited/antsy to get a new phone!

I have had an iPhone 4s for the past 2 years. I have liked it but I'm ready for something else.

I have been looking around at new phones and I am not really sure what to get/what I want. Money isn't a super concern due to getting my discounted upgrade pricing.

Whatever phone I get, I will most likely put it in an Otterbox defender or commuter case (or life proof) and put on a tempered glass screen protector in order to ensure it doesn't break.

Phones I have viewed:
-iPhone 5s
-Samsung Galaxy S5
-Samsung Note 3
-Samsung ATIV SE
-iPhone 6???
-Galaxy S6???


Phones I Am Considering
-LG G3
-Samsung Galaxy S5
-iPhone 6 (not fond of the wait time)
-iPhone 5s


I mainly use phones for calls, texts, social networking, mild games (sodoku), however I have been leaning toward windows/android phones so I can play emulator games such as pokemon on the go.

Can anyone offer their opinions/recommendations?
Would it be worth waiting for the next "wave" of phones?

I do have a macbook pro that is useful to use with my iPhone but it's definitely not a tieing factor to my phone.

If you have a Macbook and been using iPhone for years then I suggest you wait for the iPhone 6, specially with the new continuity updates for IOS and OSX being released. You can play emulators on iPhones too if you jailbreak it but it might be a while until iPhone 6 can be jailbroken.

It will be worth it to wait for the next wave of iPhones/Windows Phones, but if you decide to go with Android just get the LG G3, which imo is the best Anndroid phone out there and I doubt anything significantly better will be released anytime soon.

 

I personally have the LG G3 as Busta said, it is such a good phone, I learn about new little shortcuts everyday!

 

I was an Android guy up until a few months back. That is when I got my current phone(iPhone 5c). I would definitely recommend it as long as you are getting a protective case, which you are.

I can not add anything about waiting for new phones to come out, it is really up to you and if you want to wait.

 

Looks like I should be looking into the iPhone 6 then.

Ill also go to the verizon store and look at the LG G3 as well.

I don't want to buy a phone with a new one coming out in a few months... So I could wait for the iPhone 6 or should I just get a g3 or s5?

 

I am big fan of android and that's what i'm using right now (s5), but if you're patient the iPhone 6 should be out in around a month and with the probable bigger screen worth waiting to try out! Or at least compare..

 

I can't seem to find a date online. Do you know exactly when it'll be released?

 

Between the G3 and S5 the G3 is better, the rest depends wether you prefer IOS or Android.

 

There isnt a day yet that's purely based on speculation lol. However if they keep on trend it's almost guaranteed to be out in September, early October at the latest

Yeah I'd advise you to wait for the IPhone 6.
Rumours have it though there going to be releasing 2 phones- One 4.7 inch phone and a bigger 5.6 inch 'phablet'
But iPhone is honestly the simplest yet most useful phone to have and I can tell,you personally I've bought a samsung and although you can be 'creative' with it, it's way too confusing and eventually crashes or breaks due to some weird software errors

 

I've never heard software errors breaking a phone. And I could also reboot/reformat.



My main question would be.

IF I buy an LG G3 or Samsung Galaxy 5, would I be setting myself up to be outdated in the near future?

As said above, iPhones are the most simplest yet smoothest smartphones, period. I would wait for the iPhone 6 like I am. Personally I jumped from iPhone 4S to 5S like a few months ago. Worst mistake I made.. Nothing to impressive, except for the new fingerprint which the iPhone 6 comes with.

 

Any new features on the iPhone 6 that really make that big of a difference?

 

Bigger screen, I think they also put a new processor in it. Not sure about the camera, I know most of the time when they release a new iPhone they usually up the megapixels on the camera.

I suggest watching a YouTube video on the specs of the phone. But I'll be getting one for sure!

 

Any phone you buy will buy outdated in a year. The G3 has one of the best mobile CPUs out now and has 2k display which I believe only one other phone has atm. If the G3 gets the latest OS updates it should work perfectly for 2-3 years. As for the iPhone they date better because there is only 1 phone and they always get latest software updates, unlike Android phones.

I'm sure the iPhone 6 will be out before the holiday season, so September or October.

 

Everything runs better on iOS... Period.
