Posting in an approval required sections

When you create a thread in an approval required section, it briefly displays "Your message has been posted, but it will not be viewable until a moderator approves it" for 5 seconds, and automatically redirects you.

It might help cut down on the amount of people who post too many times because they don't see their thread displayed because they didn't have time to read the message when they refresh. If the automatic redirect was just changed into a redirect link so that they have time to read the message, new users might not spam create threads unknowingly.

Just another thing that might be helpful to add to the admin to-do list.

My only concern with this is that there are stages in the day where there are zero moderators online and even mods for specific forums.

So maybe throw a few active members into moderator (or maybe just an thread approving group) for the GMT+11 area (East Coast of Australia)


If we clean up this, it would save a lot of time reporting threads for lack of photos etc (maybe a new archive forum for people to see why the thread they requested was denied)

How does having no mods online affect this at all? This would be automated and the goal would be to help prevent work for mods.

 

I don't really see a problem with deleting / archiving threads.

In addition, people who 'spam' additional threads generally include information which was previously not included.

I think you missed the point of the thread. Approval will only be required where approval already is required. The only difference being that the notice that pops up when you post in one of these sections doesn't disappear after 5 seconds so people know the post requires approval.

 

I don't really think this is a big deal either way. We don't have a big problem with people posting threads multiple times and it's not hard to fix a mistake every now and then.

 

I see absolutely no downside to this suggestion.

No reason it can't be easily implemented, it would reduce confusion.

I can imagine it getting old to more experienced users, but cases where moderator approval is required to make a thread are very infrequent.
