Modern Kilts/Utilikilts

So I went to GenCon and I noticed that there were a lot of men there wearing kilts, and several booths that were selling kilts including Utilikilts which are a modern kilt design that includes pockets and a more modern design. Anyone considered getting a kilt? I am going to pick one up eventually I hope just to have and wear occasionally. I live in a pretty rural area so I figure that if I do get and wear one I'll get a lot of weird looks.

 

I personally would not wear a kilt but hey, im not one too judge. If I did wear a kilt I would DEFINITELY get made fun of by everyone I encounter.

Well I'm Scottish and I don't own one. They're only really worn for weddings and such here still. The full outfit does look really smart for special occasions though.

 

Yeah, my cousin's husband bought the whole outfit for their wedding and it is sharp. I just want to see what it is all about, because a good 10% of the men up there wore them and I've always kind of wanted one.

 

I have heard first hand that they feel great with boxers and a breezy day.

 

Wtf is "scot irish" ?

 

It's a commonly recognized heritage group. Pre-famine Ireland saw a lot of Scots coming over, then the famine came and they left Ireland taking a part of the culture and a couple generations of inter-breeding of the two peoples to the US. Now a lot of people recognize themselves as Scotch-Irish.
