    Question Regarding A phone

A friend of mine recently dropped his phone into some water, and when he took it out it all appeared to be dry, however, the phone does turn on, but the screen is not responsive to the touch. I looked up and saw that the screen digitizer is the part that registers the persons touch. They seem cheap to buy, so my question is: Is this true, and if not, does anyone know what will fix it?

    Thanks :)

    Question Regarding A phone

So from what you're saying - your friend dropped their phone in water, pulled it out and the "exterior" appears dry but when you touch the screen there is no response?

Unless you know what you're doing when taking apart a phone, the simple answer is no. There is no way of fixing it. You could try the rice method, but that is for when the phone was first dropped in the water in attempts to draw any from the center of the phone (the interior) out.

I mean, I suppose you could always go buy another digitizer and attempt to replace it - but there is no guarantee that that is in fact the problem.

    Question Regarding A phone

No, as soon as it was pulled out of the water, I took it all apart, and it was 100% dry, no traces of water, at all. Yes, I did do the rice thing aswell.

    Question Regarding A phone

Hello donald, i am glad you decided to get help for "your friend" but no reason to be embarrassed. First of all as a phone damage technician i advice you to put the phone in a bowl of rice. It may seem fine but the screen is the least of your worries. If you let the phone die it will not turn back on.

    Question Regarding A phone

You're right the digitizer is the part that registers the touches, so it most likely is the digitizer. You're not going to know for sure until you try it, but it's very likely it's.

    Question Regarding A phone

If the digitizer is damaged, you have to replace the whole screen. The digitizer can be bought separately but cannot be attached to the current screen without a factory. Which I doubt you have lol Anyways, buy a LCD screen with a digitizer to fix it. If the digitizer is damaged, it won't become 'undamaged'.
