I don't think anyone's arguing that his depression and death is more important than others. The fact is he was involved in many of our childhoods and has in some way impacted our lives. It's absolutely tragic for anyone to be dealing with depression, let alone those who've taken their own lives. But why does it seem to be so shocking that people would be more upset over someone dying who's impacted their lives vs someone dying who they've never met and didn't know existed?

Either way, why do you guys give a shit what other people care about and get upset over? I don't care about 99% of the threads in this section so I simply don't post. If you want a discussion about why celebrities are put on a pedestal make a new thread.

We don't really mind if people truly care, for good reason(s). It's the hypocrisy and fickle nature of people that is just intriguing. At times, it's just flat out embarrassing - this in reference to Jack Goff's post - I'm in agreement with it. Read below for why:

Also I don't really understand your stance, you say "why does it seem so shocking that people would be more upset over someone dying who's impacted their lives vs someone dying who they've never met and didn't know existed? Uh...isn't that exactly what people like Swan, Ghast, Jack, myself and others have said though? We were talking about people who weren't impacted by him and obviously didn't know anything about him, and were NOT impacted by his death...to which people got upset over. Most of the people saying they didn't care and weren't impacted filled your latter statement's criteria.

Like I said, all we can do now is use his death to maybe prevent future sufferers of depression, but we obviously can't do anything about Robin Williams. I will reiterate by saying I saw a whopping 1 movie he did, so I barely knew about him. I knew of him, but not enough to care, or worse, pretend to care, about his death. Why do I care about the people that pretend to care? Well, it just makes me wonder if those are the types of people that ignore someone's mental health problems when they're alive, and lament about them after they've died because of it. Obviously not all people that pretend to care are like that, but it's why it rubs me the wrong way personally...and I have witnessed it first hand.

I'm sorry though, that you are having a hard time dealing with his death. I don't doubt people we never actually meet can be mourned over legitimately. I feel bad for all the people truly impacted by it. It's the people that try to make it all mainstream to feel a "part of it" is what I'll never understand.
