Pay to Play?

What do you think to this idea?

Its interesting; think how many less trolls they'd be, and how many more tryharders/passionate players who WANT to win games, actually playing the damn game.

 

Personally I think the ftp model with little ease of use perks, additional benefits, or cosmetic things is the way to go with games. You can attract new players, and eventually turn them into a paying customer.

I think your suggestion would cost us an extra $50-100 a year and only filter out a small percentage of toxic people and probably a lot of legit players. They're just going to plunk down their membership fee and then act the same way.

 

I think I'd probably pay something like $7/month to join a "premium queue" and play with people who are more serious about the game. But then again, there could be rich trolls who would pay that and still mess around in that queue and stuff.

We could have a "good behavior" queue where you can only join if you've been honored x amount of times. It kind of gives players an incentive to clean up their behavior to unlock that benefit. Or something along those lines.

 

I dont support this. There will be infact less toxic and experienced players if this occurs.

 

That'd be cool, but negative behaviour would be punished harder in that queue, something like that.

 

I can tell you that I'd sell my account and quit without a second thought.

LoL can't go P2P because there are too many established/developing MOBAs out there that are free. It's really not even an option. Plus they make quite a bit of money simply from the sort of perks F2P brings, such as increased revenue on their Twitch streams.

I don't think LoL will go p2p... At worst it could introduce like Special Membership (20 IP boosts + 1 random skin + 1 random rune) per month for around 10$.
