What do you use cryptos for?

Do you hold them only as an investment or do you pay with/receive them in trades? I accept them as payment for my web development services because they can't charged-back. Once I have them I sell them pretty quickly because their price is so volatile

 

Mostly me and my team using them to fund projects (hardware/adversting)
Had little bit fun of re-selling but it seems the sellers going more and more paranoid and that's ruining the whole idea of the re-sell (i don't really care much about the re-selling profit) I believe i won't be re-selling in near future and just stick to what we are doing from years

 

The majority of my coins are spent engaging in good old agorist activities.

For example trading labor for btc. I've sent some as a gift, or to buy gold/silver with it. Also I use it as an online trading method because it cannot be charged back.

 

Theres a food truck by my house that accepts bitcoins as payment. I purchased 1/20 a bitcoin and I figure that 1/20 a bitcoin will buy a fair amount of food over time.

 

I might spend my few bitcoins on newegg now.

Trading on sythe and buying things offsite. They're really easy and nice.

 

Fun to try and flip during periods of (in my opinion) irrationality. If you can buy/sell instant within an exchange, it can be a nice bit of profit at times. In general, movements due to news tend to overshoot and some of them can be pretty obvious (the US government auction for instance).

No, it really isn't. Every time you interact with someone or something you leave a fingerprint. After a few fingerprints (or fingerprints others have left by interacting with you against your knowledge), you can be identified. This is a general concept applicable to many different things. I can't be bothered to go find you papers published that document how easy it is to be identified with Bitcoin, but I promise you they exist. A Google search is sufficient.

And even beyond this "fingerprinting", there are and always will be flaws in technology (Heartbleed was a major one) that allow you to be identified.

 

Coinmixing services work pretty well to remove that fingerprint as far as I know.

 

Perhaps, but the main issue is that those services don't stop anyone from easily tracking what you do before and after the mixing. Whenever one wants to take those Bitcoins and bring them to fiat or purchase a product or whatever, they lose that safety the mixer is supposed to give them since it ties the Bitcoins right back to a real life entity. It's this non-mixer part that is likely to raise red flags to authorities and will trigger an investigation. At that point, feeding large quantities of coins into a mixer isn't exactly helping you since it's going to raise another flag for the authorities.

Can a mixer help? Perhaps. Can it make you completely anonymous? Probably not. The problem is that so many people think something like a mixer will protect them completely, and then they do things they shouldn't be doing and end up in a lot of trouble.

I'm not advising that people partake in illegal activity, just that they seriously consider the consequences before doing so and acknowledge that the services they are using for anonymity may not be as sound and secure as they think.
