Twitch.TV Now Integrated into Runescape; First Browser-based Game to Integrate Twitch

Jagex just announced the integration of Twitch into Runescape. What do you guys think about that? Just read it on a press release sent to me so I wrote something up about it if you're interested.

It just goes to show how hard Jagex is trying to improve the game and deliver what the players want, and I think that's good. Anti-bot + Ton of updates + Twitch

 

I totally agree. Jagex has done well to keep up with the game over the years and keep the company afloat. To be honest, most games die after a while, while Runescape is one of the few to live on.

 

I like it . Runescape may not be the creme de la creme of the Twitch community, but it's viewership is good enough to justify this implementation.

I'm sure once all of the kinks are worked out of it, it will be a sweet addition to the game -- would be nice to see it on Old School as well if that's possible.

 

I think it's totally possible to see it in Old School or "Classic" versions of the client. The problem with that is, it might not be the best business decision. Usually when you're publishing a game, you want people to be hyped about the newest version of the game.

 

That's a very good point, and a business practice that Jagex has certainly adhered to in the past.

Pretty awesome addition though, I think it opens up a lot of possibilities for future streamers. Personally I never would have thought of streaming until now, it's so easy.

This could ultimately lead to more streamers + more viewership + more exposure. I'm not seeing any downsides to its implementation, provided they can troubleshoot any of the bugs that may arise out of it.

Thanks. It's been up for about a year now, and we're starting to make some change off of it. I hope it shoots off, but I need more talent to help it grow. Soon I'll be able to get people in as interns now that we have our LLC. business license.

 

Interesting.. Trying to promote the game for free basically, if more people are streaming themselves play it kind of advertises for free
