Mods and ranks need some serious change in security

He lives in Ohia, I live in New York. He got his pm at 11 am, I got mine at 5 pm. Unless his computer time is fucked up, it all seems a bit too methodical to me. The gap is also too wide (understanding that leanbean was unable to recover due to him not knowing the recovery email which is weird since he should have an alternate email/recovery requestion that he should have remembered. Leabean also lives in New York and I notice that he gets on Sythe early (ghast is a stalker confirmed). His reasoning/alibi is perfect for the situation also.

 

This is exactly why we need a Facebook like chat where you can do all your communications on sythe and eliminate skype.

 

The PMs were all sent around 5 PM our time. Unb4nn3d just has a much different timezone on his computer I'd say.

 

I'm not in Ohio for the summer. Don't worry about it.

 

Does anyone think that maybe the PM rule on Sythe should be modified? It shouldn't be just to verify a medium of communication. In my opinion, PM's should explicitly state the parameters of the deal, in some form or another.

This would make it soooo much easier + clearer in my opinion.

The people that don't read the rules or abide by them can then tread at their own risk, and they will be the ones taking the brunt of the culpability.

Just food for thought. I agree the rule as is, as Koed pointed out to me, is pretty vague.

 

This is a possibility, but it's also possible that someone DID hack Lean and, after scamming Honest Iago, decided to spam message other Skype members to see if he could get more.

My point is you can view "evidence" like this from a lot of different angles and come up with several explanations. Right now everyone is just feeding off each others' conspiracy theories.

Request a PM for EVERY trade and none of this would be an issue. That being said, I do sympathize with Iago. He learned a $2000 lesson

EDIT: I agree with Duke above^. Rule should perhaps be changed to be a bit more clear on the whole PM subject.

If a user hacks some's skype, he knows he doesn't have it forever so he'll try scam as much as possible. First thing he would do is mass message and then try scam everyone that replies. not vice versa.

 

I agree mass messaging after the scam isn't the most probable scenario, but it IS possible. Messaging Honest Iago first makes sense. He redeems a lot of MP very often, and a hacker could have seen previous conversations between the two.

Not defending Lean here, just pointing out that there are a few ways to look at this. None of us have a lot of concrete evidence on what exactly happened, so this is all just a bunch of speculation on both sides.

 

Well this is just embarrassing for all site moderators. Leanbean901 should take initiative, apologize, and refund the man an amount they both deem fit.

 

If someone hacks you, they're not gonna look over your conversations with every user. It's more likely that Lean and him were talking, he scammed him, then pretended to be a hacker.

 

Skype Conversation History doesn't transfer over when you sign into a new computer/device.

 

But still, the very fact that he doesn't have the information to recover his OWN skype account. Seems a bit strange. Especially if they make a big deal about Skype being very unsafe.

 

This is shameful of a trusted member in the community.

 

How about a vote on this topic? As there is going to be bias when a Mod/Admin looks over another Mod/Admin's case. Poll the community for 48 hours, see what the results are, then go from there.

Also bros I'm just sayin' about checking that PayPal, it's incredibly easy to create a second PayPal or have the money sent to someone other than his.

 

Vote on whether you think Leanbean scammed, or was hacked. As there is a lot of info supporting both sides, and imo it just comes down to opinion, unless there is more concrete info supplied.

 

Making a decision on if he scammed or was hacked via community vote would be redundant. It's obvious which side would win, and there is no justice in doing that.

 

But a vote is just that - opinion. It's not going to help provide any concrete evidence either way. It's just going to fuel this fire and, in the end, nothing would come of it.
