Mods and ranks need some serious change in security

Can you blame him for letting his guard down? I mean he did do 3,500 worth of trades with leanbean before with a pm.

 

I feel bad for him, don't get me wrong. But even his scam report said he couldn't afford to lose that kind of cash. I guess it just shocks me that the extra precaution of a PM wasn't taken, because of course I believe him when he says he couldn't afford to lose 2 grand. If the PM would have been sent, he would have been 100 percent protected (because I believe Lean would have paid out that huge amount if he was held responsible).

The whole situation just sucks. People need to understand that there is no such thing as being overly cautious. I agreed with your sentiments earlier about people not reading the rules and such or being unaware of things, but the hard truth is looking like this guy made a 2,000 dollar mistake.

It's not just a simple mistake though, thats the thing. There is nowhere showing it is his fault. Even the official rules state that the one whom is hacked takes full responsibility if the method of communication has been confirmed. That method of communication had been confirmed, at the latest a month ago, the earliest a week ago. It says nothing about it needing to be confirmed before each trade, even if Leanbean was hacked it still shows a major issue that new users are exposed to. At the very least there needs to be a revamp of the official rules after this ordeal.

The fact that you don't have access to the registered email you set up for the account is VERY in much regards to the dispute. If you did have it, you would have SOME SORT OF proof that your email and PW was changed. Which you don't.

You sent out a mass mesge, redeeming all MP and buying gold at 5:22 PM.

AFTER that kid got scammed. Why would a hacker not send it to everyone to begin with? Why him directly because you traded him before.

We understand the point, but no one knows that skypes can be hacked this easily unless they check the RAS section. They have no reason to believe otherwise.

They traded before, its not a big deal a lot of people just want a PM the first time to make sure its not an imposter. You guys dont have it very clear that skypes can be hacked so easily unless someones goes to report someone.



So what if he donated 1k? He saw an ooportunity which he may of believed he would not be caught and scammed. He might just be in financial trouble right now.


This is no way is against Roary, but he is BEST FRIENDS with Roary so it is possible that LeanBean used the fact that he knew Roary would believe him, to just do it and roary has a clouded judgement because they are friends and Roary is human like the rest of us. We all have bias nature.

The fact that Leanbean cant access the original registered email is a joke he cant even prove the email was changed or the pw was changed. That's aboslutely ridiculous who would ever do that he didn't have to make the email public it could of been [email protected] and no one would of known it.

No hacker who can hack skypes is dumb enough to go to a staff members. Espically leanbeans. I didn't even know he traded anymore. Who are you more likely to ask a PM for from? A STAFF MEMBER OF A WEBSITE? Or just a chinese gold buyer WHO IS GARUNTEED LOOT. Why would someone hack leanbean?

Who cares if his PayPal was screenshared? AS if it couldn't of been a different paypal. He knew this person should of asked for a PM, maybe he needs the money right now after donating so much.


I'm not saying leanbean did it because truly I don't know. But I think there is more then enough evidence with him not having access to the original registered email to show that he might of had something to do with this.
I don't believe you knew that it sends an automated email when the registered email is changed and it shows what the new email is. I think once you understood that you claimed you didn't have access to the email because you don't have the emails to prove you were hacked.

There is too much inconsistently in leanbean being totally different from his characther. If you really KNEW Leanbean got hacked. Don't you think leanbean wuld at least be nicer about it, and try to track it down? He didn't even accuse me of hacking his skype now (thanks btw cuz I didn't and I don't think anyone did) because he knew I didn't do it.

 

The only counter to getting mass messages after that specific target was probably because he was under the "moneypak group". If no other user was spammed within the same skype group, then something is fishy. I'm sure leanbean would be able to clear that up if requested. < (The request)

If it was a hacker, he'd try to get as much gold as he could.

That proves nothing unfortunately. I was also apart of the spammed victims, but the time frames were far off from yours which is weird. How long was his skype hacked for? Also, does anyone know when the Honest Iago received the message from the hacker, time wise?

 

Interesting developments. Still, though, however it is spun, a pm still would have eliminated Honest Iago's culpability. I think the lesson learned here is that you cannot be too careful.

While everyone has the right to their opinion and can see Lean's actions however they please, I'm not big on conspiracies, I guess we'll have to hope for further evidence to come to light, because obviously 2 grand is quite a bit of money.

 

Maybe I am just new here and don't understand the rules to the extent that you do, but I feel like the rules have some grey areas.

The rules state that if your messenger is hacked, you're only responsible for the reimbursement if there happened to be a private message that confirmed the method of communication. The rules do not state whether or not when the private message had to be sent (understanding that if you got a message 2 years ago, it's obviously expired). With that being said, it's hard to determine whether or not the victim should get a full refund, partial refund, or no refund at all. I do understand that the staff have make an executive decision, and there isn't much that can change it at this point.

I am not defending anyone, nor do I know what actually happened. It's unfortunate that a user got scammed, especially for a hefty amount. I think further precautions could have been taken on both parties. As I mentioned previously, maybe I do not understand the full situation or what the rules actually imply, but I am stating what my person opinion.

I am not trying to defend or target anyone, really.

It was before mass messege. What it appears to be is, he saw this person wanted to redeem MP for a %, saw he didn't ask for a PM figured its a perfect time to scam and get away with it. Did it and pretended he was hacked and figured it would be brushed off.

Again this is just what I think. But do you guys really think that if leanbean was TRULY hacked he would be acting this way?

 

He spammed just following (minutes after) the scam was completed. His time is different because of different timezones.

But seriously though he may have traded with him a lot but if he got a PM every time and just thought the hell with it this time then Lean isn't responsible. If the person you're trading with suddenly changes the way they trade it is sketchy. All of the accusations are highly circumstantial and nigh impossible to prove.

 

Not at all. The hacker's obv going for more than one person not just one if he compromised a moderators account. He already got the 2k and was looking for as much as he could get.
