hey i have a question about bitcoin

Hey guys i understand that its a virtual currency, If i wanted to turn £250 into bit coin, how would i go about doing it and how do i carry the bit coin?, would be be via a memory stick or just a file saved on my computer, and also how would i use the bit coin to purchase other items? from other people?

Secondly,you can either choose one from the sellers here or just buy them from exchange.
You need to download one of the bitcoin clients and create a receiving adress.
