Rare Name Release 2014

Well that was unexpected...

To be honest i've always looked at display name selling as multi-logging. I've seen J. Mods take a firm stance for and against it, and then some J. Mods state that it's not a top priority to be enforced. There was a J. Mod quote on HLF about that not too long ago on the topic of multi-logging.

Anyways... this is just counter intuitive since a J. Mod on the name releasing thread said they are taking action against name selling... idk it just makes no sense to me.

I like your suggestion though. Even though at the same time I don't because I don't want to end up paying for the username I want ._. .......... lol

 

I've got a name in mind I really want, I don't think it's that rare, moreso cool. Really hoping it's not on a banned account. I already know it's not P2P and its cc channel seems to indicate it's an old account.

To take a name that has just been cleared, what are the requirements? Do we have to be a member, etc..?

 

I think new names will only be claimable by members for the first week.

 

I figured that they were ok with selling names for GP. I had mine listed in the open for months stating I only wanted gold and had no problems. I saw plenty of people list their names and say they only wanted cash, and they ended up having their names banned in a week.

 

I haven't seen any posts regarding the release of any names on the Runescape Website/Forums. Can someone clear up where the source of this information came from?

Actually yes. They've started clearing out names but they won't be available to take until they say so

Multi-logging is the process of simultaneously interacting with your own accounts in game, or playing on multiple accounts simultaneously, nothing to do with display names at all. There are no rules with regards to how many accounts you can own.

J-mods have expressed interest in letting people sell their names to friends for in game currency, because the username is a mere "item" in game, and it doesn't promote RWT if it's for in game gold. Security levels are low, but the idea isn't shunned upon by Jagex.

The majority of users would love to have a secure option available for purchasing the username they want. Unfortunately what ive suggested will make dispaly name RWT-ing "too easy", and that may be the draw back that jagex saw. I'm sure it's been though of, but I think they should reconsider the idea.

 

Was referring more to how it's been a gray area because of action they've taken against people. People claim to have been banned for selling usernames, while they say it's not against the rules, but then they try to take precautions against name sellers.

I just look at it the same as multi-logging for in-game gains. I only know of a single person being banned for multi-logging, yet there are J. Mods that have posted on HLF saying it's not a top priority. Blah blah, etc etc. High profile players do it on YT and aren't touched. Etc.

Just acknowledging the fact that there's been claims that lead to contradictions in supposed rules or "principles."

Lots of names being cleared, I've added a lot of rare names which have officially been deleted and awaiting approval. Hopefully the name drop is soon to come.

 

Swear i'm gonna kill you if you take my name T_T... it's my irl name too...

 

I found myself alot of rare names too, I would love to have atleast 3 of them

 

how are you "finding" rare names that are going to become available?

 

Adding rare names into your friends list and if they turn into random numbers, then the name will become free
