    VPN for runescape

Hey guys, i recently got my hands on a free VPN software, it makes my ip or whatever in the UK somewhere which is kinda cool, but now that i enabled it and that its connected if jagex finds me botting and sweeps my ip would it ban every other account it finds? Or is every account concealed so that only the one that has been caught gets banned? Can someone give me a helping hand? :)

There's been rumours recently that jagex have been IP banning, but this isn't the case don't worry, they're false.

Jagex has never IP banned to my knowledge, they do however flag IPs (temporarily only in my opinion)which have been botted on heavily and ban subsequent attempts very quickly.

Not 100% sure what you're asking exactly but I'll take a crack at it.

As long as you have the VPN turned on, it will be masking your IP.
When you turn it off, it will go back to your normal IP.
It would be best to not mix accounts between your IP and the VPN.
It would also be good to select a similar/close location on your VPN for each account, so it won't look like you're jumping around the world.

I just dont want all of my accounts to get banned because of one account getting caught. Imagine you had 2 accounts that botted right? Well what if one got caught, jagex would look through your ip and ban your other account for botting aswell

Im basically trying to make it so that if one account gets banned only that gets banned, no other gets caught.

If you are using a free VPN, it's extremely likely that it's already been used for botting. If you've never had a ban on the account that you've botted on your home IP, continue to do so, it's safer than a VPN.

my home ip has been caught and used to ban about 3-4 accounts of mine. but they were chain bans, (2 accs were banned at the same time)and thats exactly what i am trying to avoid

Use a differnt IP for each group of (or single) account you bot.
That way (if you subscribe to the IP link theory) the max account which could be chain banned is the largest group size you use per IP.

As Xier0 said a VPN program most likely shares IPs over all of it's customers, so there's a (small?) chance of someone else using the IPs for RS possibly.

Just don't mix up IPs between accounts and you're good against chain bans.

Might want to look into using proxies, maybe a better route to take.

If your account has already been banned before, don't bot from your home IP, it's probably already flagged.

VPN's or proxies are probably your safest bet.

    A bit overkill IMO.

Lots of people run farms on the same machine just fine without messing with cache/cookies, it's more widely believed that Jagex just users ID.

I could you could never be too safe, but that's a bit extra precautions.
