Concerning account sales on OSRS

I realized that it became pretty difficult to recover RS accounts, I tried recovering my EOC account (since I haven't played RS in like ages) and wasn't even able to. Does that mean that the probability of somebody recovering a account after they sold it to you is slim?

I was thinking of buying an account on PA , a 07 main, but you can just see people on their feedback selling accounts over and over that are identical to the listing so it definitely is possible to recover them back.

Maybe someone else can shed light on this.

 

As far as I know as long as you are the original account creator, it is possible for you to recover your account as long as you have all of the right recovery info.

 

ahem i hope you didnt just confess to recovering it after having sold it....

 

I just said I was trying to recover it because I forgot the password. I never even sold any of my RS accounts.

I believe it is still the same process of recovering accounts, if in-fact it was your original account. I recovered an account I hadn't used since 2011 perfectly fine without knowing the email that was currently attached to it.

 

like mr extremez said if you are og owner and created the account and know everything bit of info you can most likely recover it

 

original owner+ IP address the account was created on= Easy recovery process

 

I have no idea where you got your information OP. Submitting a recovery request from the IP used to create the account = a recovered account..100% chance of recovery. Never had or heard of an appeal failing.

 

Usually when the IP is close enough to where your original one was they'll grant you a recovery.

 

If you're the original owner of the account you shouldn't have any problem with recovery. Generally a rule of thumb for their automated system is to match the ip location of the submitted recovery vs the creation ip of the account. If that doesn't match up it could result in an instant denial.

Sometimes if you move houses or countries you could be really fucked by the system in this way.
