Blades 350z progress thread

Hello all.

Doing a concept thread for everything that I'd like to do to my car.

Open to all criticism and trolling.

Spoiler: Old Goals and 2004 Z

Yes, it's an automatic. No, I have no fucking idea how the engine works or what anything does. I'm trying to learn, slowly. My father was one who believed that money solved the problem of everything, and that someone could be hired for every purpose. With this, I wasn't taught anything myself.

Please link me to anything that you think would be helpful.

My buddy has an '11 NISMO 370z with too much money in installations. Anything he replaces, I'll buy off of him if I like it. The first of these are his 19" Varrstoen es1's.


Goals list:
currently on hold, switching to a newer & stick shift!

• Wheels
• Varrsetoen es-1 rims Black rims, fewer spokes with a nice lip.
• paint varrostens blue
• Matte Black w/ gunmetal gray pearl dip job Still love matte black, but can't afford a full paint.
• ED B-2 Widebody kit with professional installation Looking at better kits.
• Intakes
• Full exhaust replacement
• Custom installation of second sub, replace BOSE sub, improve stock amp
• Interior neon - blue
• Respectable Wing - z's are very frontheavy
• Other enging improvements that I do not understand
• Skyline engine, cut clutch in, replace a/ss shifter with stick shift.
• Custom interior replacement of stock
• Detachable wheel (will link my buddy's later, it's beautiful)
• Have guages and know what the fuck they mean
• Replace leather seats, probably buddy's racing seats
• Keep the paint/dip maintained (learn how to do this)

Buying a new Z within the week. Looking specifically at NISMO's.

Currently watching Engineering Explained videos on YT, they're awesome. Learning about vehicles and lurking on my350's site to learn this vehicle specifically.

Update 12 August: I've had my NISMO for a few days now. Still a noob at driving it, probably going to kill this clutch soon.

Update 15 September. Can now drive pretty well. Have slight problem going into first uphills in traffic, everying else going well. Have learned a large amount about cars, especially mine. Can't believe how stupid I was at first, the guys on my350z shaped me up pretty quick. New goals in the spoiler below.

Spoiler: New Goals 2008 Nismo

Plans:
-Stealth Radar Detector
-Full Suede/Alcantara/CF interior accents/reupholstered. Have already been quoted and planned this out, every part is decided it's just getting the money together and taking leave down to GA.
-Single cat-back exhaust, not 100% on the brand yet.
-Motordyne XYZ pipe with Resonator.
-HFC's. Going for legal and good sounding, trying to keep zero rasp/drone.
-DC Headers most likely.
-Blue footwell LED's and cool white interior LED replacements (Cool white done, waiting for blue until after the interior job. Can't have two accent colours.)
-Head unit from stock to AEM. Not picky on the brand one bit. I prefer the look of the Double DIN but I got the Single DIN from Scoshe for $1 and I already had a Single DIN Pioneer unit from my old car, no reason to spend other money when I have it all. Also need to hook up the custom sub box that the guy included.
-Strut bars, haven't looked around that much on these.
-Eventually check out Aftermarket Wheels, though I'm pretty satisfied with the NISMO Rays.
-Paint my Brembo's Blue to match interior accents.
-VA (Which includes most other states as it's...VA >_> everyone who lives/lived here knows...) legal window tinting on all windows. Professionally done, no corners cut here.
-CF Nismo shift knob if it flows well with the CF interior work, if not most likely a custom leather knob or the ti/black Nismo knob. Actually... I might just get the interior guy to overlay the current knob with Alcantara and the same sticthing... But then of course The boot would be the same. Yeah, that's too much. Shit I'm typing not thinking. Oh well!
-CAI's, obviously. Not sure why that's so far on the list, it'll be my first bolt-on mod. Takeda intakes looking like a great price/performance pick here. Can't bring myself to get the K&N drop-ins, just doesn't give the cosmetic appeal.
-Wire tuck under the hood.
-Oh, those hood-suspension whatever-the-fucks. Keeps the hood raised without the bar.
-Motordyne Plenum Spacer
-Eventually I plan on going Matte black. This is a very far (10+ years) change as it'll be at least a $6k+ job on this kit.

that's a pretty good forum to find advice on what you're looking for. I personally used the myg37 forum to find injen intakes and hotchkis sway bars for my car. Also look into a tune after your intake and exhaust it will improve the performance a lot and congrats on your new car .

 

Yo man my homie just copped a silver 350z for 10 g's. Theyll get you into some trouble if you don't know what you're doing. Those bad boys push 300hp STOCK.

I've been on their forums, but they're all pretentious fucks who would never help someone like me because I don't understand engines, etc.

I can drive pretty well. I've raced before, I just never got into mechanics.
Also, I'm not a homie, so I don't think I'll have trouble.

Talk to Folt/Aaron he also has a 350z. Real nice guy. For the most part those forums are great once you get past the pretentious fucks.

Just buy it recently? I know all of the ins and outs of this car. I'l get a few pics of mine and throw them up on here tomorrow if you have any interest in seeing what I've done.

The 350z forums are an amazing resource for learning. Be weary with posting inquires because a lot of the frequents on there are really anal about "newcomers" asking repetitive questions. They have a massive archive of useful information about pretty much everything you'll ever need to know.

Feel free to fire away any questions you have about it, this car is my passion in life at the moment haha.

Off topic...for the love of God and your rank please do not get a DUI haha. My unit no shit had over 1000 DUI free days after we got back from deployment. Long story short we got 4 new dudes from Korea and they all got DUI's within 3 months of getting to us. Welcome back to the states though...taxi's are cheap .


Awesome choice on the 350z though, naturally aspirated sexy little machines! I was thinking about looking around for one because they are a reallly great base to becoming an absolute monster! Keep this thing updated!

Never was a fan of the 350Z's. Or the 370z's for that matter. Their owners always seem to think it's the hottest shit. Til I show them my tail lights and shut them up with my big heavy SUV, that is.

 

SUV's are completely useless vehicles.
Cargo space? Truck
Speed? Coupe
Family? Sedan/van

I drive my car because it's fast and it's fun, and it helps me get women. (Not that I needed it.)

 

Drift Wing, Sound System, Lowered , New Rims, Exhaust, Stick shift - your golden my friend. Glad your taking the time to learn the insides and outs. Really helps you save money. I have to do all the work on my car, because no one know whats their doing with a mid-engine car. It's annoying sometimes but the result of people complimenting it pays off.

 

SUV's are completely useless? The commenter drives an SRT8 Jeep Cherokee...the thing has cargo, it has speed, and it has family carrying capacity. I'd say its one of the MOST not useless vehicles out there haha. They're wonderful 450hp AWD monsters, that comment just doesn't make sense to me haha.

 

My car is faster, a truck has more cargo, and a van holds more people.
SUV is like the "meh" in all departments. Nothing special anywhere, is the best at nothing, but doesn't have many flaws.

He can drive/say what he likes, I drive my car because it's an awesome feeling. And the one I'm trading for is even awesome-er (yes, that's totally a word.)
