    hi

I hooked my monitor to my HDTV and it supports 1080i. I set my maximum resolution to 1920x1080 but the picture is too big. The side of the screen is cut. I set the monitor to one resolution down (to like 1700-1800x900-1000) or something and it works. I was curious to find out why I can't use my 1080x1920 resolution when the TV supports it (1080i)

You mean PC or monitor? If you mean PC you can go into your GPU settings and adjust the pan and scan or something like that, I remember I had to do that when it was full resolution but didn't fill whole screen.

not sure how to explain it but the picture is cut around the sides unless I set the res lower to 1768x900p (hdtv) monitor

I looked in the GPU settings and there is no option to adjust pan and scan or something like that.

Look in TV settings for anything called "Over-scan". If you find it, change the setting.

Yeah you'll have to keep switching every time you want to go PC / TV, but it works in either case.

Either that, or adjust your output resolution to match up. On mine I have to run at Like 1880x1040 or something like that, and it fits perfect with no issues. That, and its just that many fewer pixels your gpu actually has to render, which for me is good for 1-2 fps....1-2 doesn't really matter but if you're on a midrange system it helps I'm sure

This can cause problems, and I don't recommend doing it unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Youd have to be a complete retard to create a problem this way. In fact, even if the op was retarded but did know where the settings are to underscale, I couldn't see him finding a way to damage something. It will not hurt anything by underscaling below the general common resolution in order to make it fit.
