weird experience with Ultimate Game Card

I was able to scan and swipe two $10 cards , 1 $20 and 1 $25..without paying ... i thought they wouldnt have any value since i didnt pay..i just canceled the order at the self checkout...was bored and entered the code...

Just curious if anyone knew how these things work?

 

You can scan them but they don't validate until the transaction is complete.

What do you mean "redeem" I doubt you were standing at the self-checkout redeeming them on your phone.

 

no i simply took the cards home with me..and the codes worked, even though i canceled the transaction at self checkout

 

Realistically, it shouldn't work. When you ring items out at a register all its doing is displaying them on the registering and calculating the overall price. Not until you tender it to a "pay-screen" is the data sent and activated.

The only explanation is that someone bought the cards and then returned them.
