Do you think its really worth it to cut?

Do you think it's really worth it to cut if I am already fat but doesn't have any muscles to lose? Someone told me to bulk instead until Oct-Dec and at the moment I am currently 17-18% and that's pretty fat but my friend said I would look better with 17-20% if I have muscles so he told me to do a lean bulk so I wouldn't gain that much fat or maybe stay in the same bf %.

It really depends on what your goals are. Are you wanting to get stronger? Are you wanting to lose weight and look ripped?

If you just want to get stronger and don't really give a shit about what you look like in the process, then just follow some type of strength program and eat an adequate amount to ensure you are not in a deficit.

This dude below was 17% in the picture and he actually looks like a beast and it looks so good so I think I should probably bulk at the moment until October.

If you are certain you are happy getting fat and puffy, then definitely bulk before you cut, but for me if I bulked to start with I would get demotivated from putting on fat, which would ruin my chances of ever looking good as I would probably stop lifting, however if you chose to bulk then a bulk for a natural lifter would have to be clean, you are definitely better off eating at maintenance than eating above 400 or 500 calories more than your maintenance.

The benefit of cutting for a beginner, is you get to see results quick, which will keep you motivated, and it will help you better understand how your bodies metabolism works. Also once you are lean enough and start to see abs, then you can slowly start to increase calories by 100 a week or every 2 weeks, which will help to build up your metabolism for a clean bulk after the cut :)

Just my opinion, not saying i'm an expert haha

Well fuck it then I'll cut until October LOL

I can say that I do gain muscles while losing fat at the same time as I am actually cutting right now but I am planning to bulk instead.

It's only worth cutting for the summer. You're kind of late, so there isn't much of a point unless you need to go to an event looking lean.

Why not try body re-composition to get the best of both worlds?

I personally straight up bulk, fuck cutting. When I was 360 pounds of fat, I bulked down to 220, because when you lift you lose a bunch of fat as well. I was pretty strong at 220 at about 18% body fat

That line kinda tells me you never worked out before? I could be wrong but that's the feeling I'm getting. If that is the case I'd suggest you hit the fundamentals hard without worrying as much about "cutting" or "bulking". I say that because cutting and bulking doesn't only mean tailoring your diet any which way but also means tailoring your workout's as well. An example of this would be lets say repetitions. 4-6 reps generally you'll see someone doing who's trying to put on some size...but to be able to bang out 4-6 reps and it be effective for your purpose you're going to have to pile on "x" amount of weight that will ensure you can't do any more reps than 6.

Which is NOT good for you...if you haven't lifted seriously before. Its not good because you're not only working out your muscles, you're giving your joints and everything else a run for their money. Those have to be built up over time. You can't just go shocking you're system like that. You're going to have to worry about your stabilizers which are probably going to be non existent which could definitely lead to an injury. Not to mention if you haven't lifted before your form is going to be all jacked up...couple that with weight that is already strenuous you're just asking for it.

That was one example...my advice to you would be to focus on fundamentals and form....everything else will most definitely follow!

Congrats on losing all that weight...but what hahahaha??

Losing weight is called cutting yes, that's any kind of weight. when you cut, you also burn some muscle to tone them up, since when you cut you lift lighter. I wasn't lifting light when I went from 360 to 220. I was doing what is considered "bulking" I was eating what I wanted, and lifting heavy, and I still dropped 140 pounds of fat and gained a decent amount of muscle. Therefore, I was bulking.

I suppose...but you did lose 140lbs of fat, I'd consider that cutting regardless of the decent amount of muscle you say you put on. Now if you lost 140lbs of fat and gained 141lbs of muscle we could say you bulked hahaha =p. Seriously though I'm not going to argue semantics and terminology, fact of the matter is you lost a metric fuck ton of weight which clearly took discipline/dedication so kudos to you!

"toning" is a myth, surprised you lost 140lbs without knowing that.

    From bodybuilding.com article:
Not even going to get into your whole "bulked and lost 140lbs" situation, sounds like you a trolling or something to be honest. Although I have said all this, I still have to say well done for losing 140lbs

If I was you i would would to tone before I bulk up. You get get stronger but you'll still look "fat". It would look and make you feel a lot better if you tone up first

no such thing as toning, as I previously said, but I do agree, usually better to cut first, rather than bulk and get fat.
