[Food] Nong Shim - Shin Ramyun Black Ft. Psy

I was looking around for items to review when I found out I had a backlogged case of ramen. Here it is:

Yep, that's ramen!

The ramen is much pricier than the original, which is shown below. Upon further inspection, the only difference is that Black has an extra flavor packet. When I opened the special flavor packet it reaked of something nasty (I think anchovy extract), but I still used it in hopes of it making a taste difference. Compared to the regular Shin Ramyun, these noodles weren't as spicy, and the extra flavor packet didn't make that much of a difference in the noodles. As I slurped on Psy's noodle, it progressively got spicier, but the flavor was almost the same as the normal except with the anchovy aroma that plagued my nose and would end up in my taste buds.

4/5 due to it costing more and having a slight flavor difference in the negative direction, but still a good ramen that I've spent a lot of money on.

It's much more likely that you'll find one of these in your international section at your local grocer:



The original Shin Ramyun is easily 5/5 the best packaged ramen I've had, when compared to tons of random chicken / spicy flavors I once bought from Chinatown. If you guys like spicy food and ramen, I recommend you try it out just once. If you get one that's made in Korea, even better, but it'll likely be from Nong Shim USA.

FYI, in case you didn't know, the black also comes in a non-cup traditional packet form. I will upload pics when I get a chance.

Ramen is practically poison that you can heat up in the microwave that is legal for companies to sell as food.

 

I know it's bad for you, and I haven't really had any in years, but just drink a lot of water and you should be fine.

I gotta say these food posts are shaping up to be my favorite part of spam forum now. Your 4/5 seems generous given that it "tastes worse" and "costs more" but I will have to give that 5/5 ramen a try

 

Well yeah cost doesn't usually play much of a factor, and just because it tastes worse doesn't make it bad.

I think I need to post my 0/5, which is going to end up being a rant about Steak and Shake lol.

That's funny, I saw the video this clip was from in middle school. That guy is a professional taste tester for ice cream companies and from what I remember he makes well in excess of 6 figures annually to do that lip-smacking and tongue-waggling

 

lmao me too. I question how much his golden spoon actually aids in his taste testing though. It allegedly is what you should use, but i'm not buying it
