    Question about Steam.

I recently got hit by the ban wave and had to reformat, now after that i created a new account and bought some games. I'm afraid if i log in my old banned account maybe ill get my new account flagged or vacced. I know i'm paranoid and that's probably not the case but I don't know what valve is doing anymore. I just need to know if its safe thanks. o_O

    Question about Steam.

You got hit with a VAC ban because you cheated. Simple.

If you've formatted your computer, then the cheats will be gone now.

    Next time don't cheat.

    Question about Steam.

Thanks for not answering my question in any way. The reason i'm asking is because a lot of people got there hacking accounts and legit accounts banned. So i don't know if the account is flagged or what if i log in it if my new account will get banned.

    Question about Steam.

You only get VAC banned for making unauthorised modifications to the game. In other words "cheating".

You don't get banned for "no reason".

    Question about Steam.

Well think about what you're saying logically..

You're afraid your account could be flagged if you log into it..? So that would use the assumption that it's either done by your HWID or your IP..? So if that's the case, then a reformat hasn't helped you. But as far as I'm aware, VAC don't use them methods to ban across multiple accounts for one account. They ban that account for that offence.

    Question about Steam.

They don't ban by IP, they ban for detecting naughty stuff running in your game memory.

    Question about Steam.

I'm aware of that, but to the question he's asking it seems he's worried about them having information for his IP and or HWID so will ban any other accounts he logs into. Which I'm pretty sure isn't the case.

    Question about Steam.

I never said I got banned for no reason neither did I imply it. And yea I know steam works that way but as of the last ban that I'm talking about they banned everyone's accounts. like say someone had one account for hacking and one legit account they vac banned both. So I'm wondering if by logging in now it would take effect or not (the ban).

    Question about Steam.

    Valve don't do this.

Logging into the account isn't going to make any difference.

If you can see a "VAC banned" tag on the Steam profile for your accounts, then that account is VAC banned forever.

    Question about Steam.

Banning by IP is unjustified as the only evidence of cheating an IP constitutes is that the banned person in question has logged in to the account in question from a certain location. Account identification by other similar means is just as unreasonable.

Consider: if you play a lot of games on a local public wifi network, such as at your local library and you were to get banned, if Valve were to ban on such a basis they would end up banning every other user linked to that location. Similarly people access their Steam accounts from internet cafes and the like. Another scenario is your sibling may have cheated, so it would be ludicrous to ban you for something your brother did on the same IP or computer.

If you're that worried about it, email them and ask from the source. You don't have anything to worry about in my opinion though.

Next time, don't cheat. It spoils the game for others.

You're saying this on a Runescape cheating and blackmarket forum... You do realize that, right?

As for yourself, if you've reformatted and it's a fresh account, you're fine. They don't do anything by IP, if you don't have anything on your PC as of now you have nothing to worry about.

You cheated. What else do you have to ask yourself?
