Good hangover cures?

I have recently started to get some ROTTON hangovers. I have a few cures that I use but not that great. Anyone got any ideas?

My current ones are:
Homemade smoothies
Lucozade Isotonic
Chilli Omelette

3 eggs, over medium/easy, 3 pieces of toast real butter no fu fu lame shit, and minimum 3 pieces of bacon crispy.

A buddy of mine swears by coconut water as his hangover drink.

 

Nothing. Most "cures" like coffee yada yada are myths.

 

Not excessively drinking is the best place to start...I can drink 4 of 5 beers, get a decent buzz going and wake up the next morning just fine. Butttt if you insist on getting completely sloshed, drink a lot of water before you go to bed for the night! It's not a cure but it should help your headache since you won't be "as dehydrated".

 

Coffee just leads to excessive shitting when hungover anyway.

 

Drinking a lot of water for one is the most important thing you can do. And obviously weed too if you're into that.

Also this Portuguese soup called acorda. It's very simple and I think it taste amazing. It's just broth, garlic, olive oil, poached eggs, some hard bread, and spices. It's known to be a great hangover cure in Portugal. My grandmother used to serve it to my grandfather all the time for breakfast after a night of drinking since he owned a bar. I make it a lot myself too since it's so cheap to make and is pretty good for you.

Drink sugar water before sleeping.

Wake up, intake sugar water and foods with tons of grease, you'll be set.

Just playin I would suggest a smoothie or slushie of that type.

 

There's no cure, only prevention. Drink copious amounts of water while drinking and more in the morning. Hangover symptoms are all symptoms of dehydration, which occurs because your liver uses water to filter the alcohol or some such sciencey gobbledeegook.

 

Gatorade or Powerade. The electrolytes help you sooo much. I'm not even joking, try it.

 

Drink a lot of water.

 

64 oz of gatorade will do the trick

What does the sugar achieve? As in the science behind it.

I think they are the same as lucozade isotonic? Not 100%.

 

The reason you're hungover is because your brain isn't getting oxygen or something and lacks glucose because of the alcohol. I don't remember, but health class in high school. It's always worked though, for me at least.

I keep 2-3 full bottles of water near my bed, down those during the night/when you wake up, you won't feel terrible.

Depends on the drink, really. Some drinks can fuck your stomach lining over more than others do, for example.

In a general sense though, the headaches and similar symptoms are often caused by simple dehydration. Lots of electrolytes (salt, Gatorade, food in general) and lots of water are the key things to helping out with that. Pure water isn't that great though, considering you do need electrolytes to be well hydrated.

Keeping food down is pretty important, but from my experience avoiding things like dairy helps, considering the last major hangover I had I vomited about 5 minutes after drinking milk. Could barely finish a small McDonalds meal but after I did eat it I felt a bit better.

Edit: I find the general key is to avoid being hungover altogether though. Pace your drinking, eat lots of food and drink lots of water WHILE you are drinking and BEFORE you sleep, and you'll wake up in the morning feeling quite all right I've found.
