The Popular Client Orion Tracks Your Information

If you use RSBuddy's client orion, your display names are being tracked. Anecdotally I can offer that Orion Matt (Lead Dev) has also stated that he has access to IP/OS/java version etc. from server side.

They track names because people share the paid client with their friends. It's understandable.

 

In the beginning, Zuckerberg lied and attempted to coverup data and information sales too.
A company with a product designed for profit will deny all said accusations any day of the week.

I won't use it based on the fact they're full of shit and lied to the public.

 

Idk man. Personally me and 15 other people share the same pro account. I'm considering buying pro to prevent any backlash from orion account sharing LOL.

But in all seriousness i smell bullshit on both sides. Saxo seems like a spastic who really is out to get orion. Now the pm's idk man. Mathew pming him is obviously sketchy and the orion guys never even address the fact that he pmed him only that retro hash or w.e is not affiliated with orion. So does that mean Mathew really did pm him and then saxo had an account pm him to pile on to the evidence. So that't sketchy on both ends.

As far as not being open sourced, that dude has a point if they were really the "saviors of rs07 f keys" and had 0 nefarious intent then you would think they would release the source. Then again i would be satisfied with just an official statement from jagex at this point. And as far as tracking display names to track orion account sharing i dont like this. I've been sharing the same pro info for several months now with 15 ppl... why has nothing happened yet? KNOCKS ON WOOD. What is there plan? Surely they aren't just tracking their display names for statistical purposes. But on their site they also state that they plan on making all orion features free after adequate testing. So which way is it? Do they care or not? Both sides are stepping on their own toes and having to backtrack a bit. I will continue to use orion because anything else is just cancer.

This kinda upsets me! I was really looking forward to getting a chance to try out Orion Pro, but now this makes me want to step back and re-access the situation.

So what? Botting clients did the same thing where they tried to prevent people sharing their paid versions with other users.

 

I think you'll find most applications worth running these days will be tracking you in some way or another because of how valuable it is to do.

 

Too bad this is like the only RS client that works on MACs.

This is just drama, I mean the fact that they tried to cover it up is a kinda shitty move, but what they are doing is really nothing new and it doesn't mean they have bad intentions either. Everyone is freaking out about nothing
