Ah, okay. Makes sense I guess.

I'll be learning PHP next semester. Already covered the latter.

I'm trying to have an open mind about it, but I'm not sure whether I'm going to enjoy it.

 

PHP is an awful language. But you do need to have server side languages. Let's look at Sythe: It runs Vb which is PHP. It needs to update a shit ton of server side databases and lay shit out.

The database stuff HAS to be done server side. The layout does not. It could be such that there would only ever be one page load when you went onto Sythe. Then every time you click a link, your client sends a request to the server for the information needed to serve that link. The server could respond with a JSON object containing everything needed to display that page, say this thread. It would include all the posts and shit. Your client would then take that information and use javascript to lay it out correctly.
