Checked my IP

Hi,

I checked my IP in my profile and it rang up with another member that is banned. Does this affect me in anyway? Or does it mean he lives around me? Thanks.

 

That will not effect you. Could've possibly been on same network/proxy. No worries.

However, it can be used against you for a ban evade report if anyone chooses to look into it.

 

That's what I was thinking. Anyone can open up a report on me and just use that against me. But do they have to have some sort of proof? I can't just get banned under assumption? Or is the IP scan enough?

 

The IP hash alone is not enough proof to justify a ban, it only reinforces other data. It's inevitable that IPs will overlap now and again as there are less IPv4 addresses than there are Internet users :x Other bits of info would have to match up; Skype, other IM, full name, etc

 

We can tell if it's a public IP/mobile IP and so on. As the text on the IP lookup says, it doesn't warrant a ban on its own necessarily.
