Why do fun ranks get stripped when you pardon?

Just find that really stupid that it happened to Jack Goff, N4n0, and I.

What's the logic behind it?

I heard it was a case of "n4n0 lost them when he was unbanned, so now everyone does". N4n0 was banned for scamming, it's a bit different than a drama situation. To add to this, back when n4n0 was banned, there were CONDITIONAL PARDONS. There aren't anymore. You unban a person and don't add/remove anything to their account. Why did I lose my ranks?

I proved myself as a PHP developer - just because I was banned I can no longer do it? I also helped Richard out in apprehending a trouble user for the pirate rank. Both of them were earned.

If something applies to one, it should apply to all, there should be no individual punishments.

 

I mean I'd want my cool cat back, definitely. Even getting it in the first place was an uphill battle all the way. In my case in particular, several people were complaining that I was OMM and it should be stripped - according to the rules it should be stripped immediately upon pardoning and that's fine. A fun rank however shouldn't be stripped in my opinion, we both contributed a lot to the site prior to our pardons and that doesn't change despite our pardons.

The best thing I can think of to compare them to is mini-ranks. They are no longer stripped upon being banned, I don't think fun ranks should be either.

 

Seems dumb if you earned them IMO. Fair enough if you had Ex-Mod stripped as that's a rank that includes some form of trust behind it but not programming ranks + silly ones.

 

The way I see it you earned the fun rank, but if you broke the rules and were pardoned, then you lose the privilege of having it.

Yes you get pardoned, but you are allowed back on the site at the staff's discretion, you should have to earn the rank back again after losing it after you get banned, in my opinion.

 

This is kinda why the no conditional pardon rule now exists I think.

 

Removing fun ranks seems like a conditional pardon tbh. Once you earn them they should be kept.
