    Problems with shaving?

My new job requires that I'm clean shaven every single day, and not doing so will eventually result in termination because they fire people for racking up points, and every "Company Look" counseling is a whole point.

I have a problem though, and I want to know if anyone else does too and how they fixed it if they did.

I have a patch of skin under my jawline on the right side that is rough for some reason. It doesn't start out pimply, it's just rough, and when I shave it, it instantly shears off the top of the skin. Throughout the day, this will turn into pimples because the cuts are all super small, and the next day when I go to shave again, the problem just gets exponentially worse because the skin is so much rougher and irritated.

No amount of after shave, alcohol rubs, expensive "razor burn erasers" or sanitizing prevents it from doing exactly as described above.

The worst part is, I can get a medical shaving waiver, but the company doesn't honor these waivers if you can't grow a full beard instead, and unfortunately I can't.

Has anyone had this problem and is there a solution? Next step for me is going to ask for a prescription, but my next day off isn't until next Friday

    I've never heard of this.

What kind of razor are you using? Do you have a trimmer or one of the gilette/whatever razors?

If I were you, I'd invest in a beard trimmer or even a detailer since those are much easier on the skin. You could also try out Nair which will just burn the hair right off.

I think it could just be a patch of dry skin, have you tried wet shaving yet?

If you're using a straight razor, then you should absolutely go and buy an electric one or a beard trimmer. Trust me, it's soo much better on your skin. This will probably solve your problem.

    Problems with shaving?

I have a problem simular to this bro, I'm half black
so I definitely have the potential to get razor bumps
and pimples...heres what I do, I hope it helps!

I never ever dry shave! If you shower in the morning you'll
be in pretty good shape for this, but if you do at night you
Can still pull it off seeing as I shower at night and are cleanly
    shaven in the AM.

Take your shower, do you thing wash your hair clean your nuts
and all of that good stuff. Right when your shower would end
is when I start shaving. The heat and steam through the duration
of the shower really helps soften the hair and everything.
Sometimes before hand I'll press the a warm washcloth on my
face right before I put the shaving cream on. Try and find a
shaving cream that has aloe in it, I've noticed it definitely helps!
I start off shaving down once with the grain, then twice going
against the grain. Make sure your face is still slippery from the
cream, it help the blades glide better I've noticed.

after the shower I'll take the washcloth and soak it with cold
water then I hold it on my face. It helps close the pores!

After my face is dry I throw on cerave lotion. Any lotion without
frangrances and all the other bullshit would probably work
as well but I like cerave! Good luck dude!!

also, sorry if its kinda hard to read typed this out on my phone and the layout
    Blows!

I too have sensitive skin, i use electric razors. Its not QUITE as close a shave but a high end norelco doesnt irritate my skin.

But 99% of the time I just knock em down with my shears and go. My job doesnt require me be clean shaven or shaven at all so I slack on it.

In my experience, using an electric razor is more likely to chop up your skin than a regular one. If it's just one small area, you might be able to get away with not shaving it as closely as the rest of your face, and going back with a trimmer and shaving it more precisely (which won't get it as close, but will keep you from damaging it further)

I have really sensitive skin and used to get terrible rashes from dry shaving. Since I started wet shaving I haven't really used my dry shaver since. If you do wet shave, just change the blade every week or so, as if you let it start to go blunt you'll cut yourself all too often.

I assume wet shaving is with hot water, shaving cream and a Gillette razor; if so, I already do that and it's loads better than dry shaving but still not enough

Yeah that's what I meant. Maybe try using a different blade? Some blades cut closer to the skin, some are smoother, they all differ slightly so maybe try changing that.

Also when I shave I always do it WITH the direction the hairs are growing. Afterwards, if I want a closer shave I'll do it against the hairs. Normally unless I'm really really REALLY careful I'll end up irritating my skin when shaving against the hairs.

I've tried every direction of shaving, with the grain against the grain sideways, no difference. I want to try straight razors, only thing I haven't done

    Or nair

Fair enough then, not too sure what to suggest. Only been shaving with the hairs so it's not as close which has helped me. And using plenty of shaving foam. Oh yeah, also helps to make your face wet before you apply the shaving foam. Don't soak your face, but if it's wet I find it glides easier.

    Best of luck!

I have sensitive skin and something I noticed helped was using more shaving cream than what I originally thought was necessary. I've heard some great things about the shaving cream that you can apply with a brush as well.

Try using any Hair Conditioner instead of shaving cream. (Not Shampoo)....Hair Conditioner!

You need to find a good shaving foam and also a good moisturiser to use after. When I first started shaving this happened to me all the time till I found the right products to use. Never use aftershave if you have skin irritation as it will only make it worse.

Just find the right shaving cream. Go with the grain. Don't shave multiple times over one spot. Splash your face with hot water and hold a warm towel up to it when your done.
