I'm pretty sure that's against the law. I suggest you threaten them with lawsuits, it could scare them into giving you your 500$ back. ;)

Yeah my paypal account got locked because someone charge back. I think E-gold is safer.

It's not against the law because you basically give paypal the right to fuck your mother when you agree to their terms and conditions.

I got exactly the same thing, any account that is even similar to my details gets limited now. There is basically nothing you can do.

And to everyone saying "use e-gold instead blah blah blah". I have an e-Gold account, and I've accepted eGold payments since I started selling gold. The fact is, though, very little people have depositted money into eGold, and the profits are much smaller when you sell via eGold. Paypal is much more profittable, and widespread.

I have had a paypal account, received 1 payment from a customer (paypal account) and they restricted my account upon payment.
There were no claims, no chargebacks, account was verified, and the amount was exactly 100USD.
Mail after mail, they kept asking me bills, etc, i sent them everything they asked , and the account kept restricted.
The kept it restricted for the 180 beeping days.
After that , they only let me to leak the balance to a bank account, which i did , then i asked them to close the account, no way they said.

    What did i do ?
I closed my bank account and opened a new one , reported my credit card as stolen (wich is true , and i'll explain a bit later why) and got a new one, then sent to them a very threatening and serious email about them spamming me (as they kept asking me stupidly to resend them other documents), and for holding my personal information against my will.

During the 180 days, i discovered a few paypal payment on my credit card (strange .. my account was restricted .. hehe) that i claimed to my bank, and for wich i got back payments at value date (ie fully canceled).

Paypal is always looking for the "small" ones, or people who "might" have problems to rape them money, every mail you'll send will be autoanswered.

From what i got, i suggest you :
1- lock/cancel your credit card IF it is verified (if not just ignore it, and DO not verify it even if they ask for, remember my credit was verified and they kept my account restricted).
2- check you bank statements for any vicious attempts from their side.
3- Unfortunatly you have to wait the 180 days, try not to leak this info to your customers or they will be claiming their money back knowing you cannot avoid that.
4- after the 180 days, IF there still a balance in your account, move it to your very trusted friend bank account, dad account (anything other than YOUR account), they claim the bank account holder name should match the ppal account holder name but this total bullshit, as it just prevent them to pick the money back from YOUR account (i shall draw a very evil grin here).
If your balance is negative, totally ignore them, they threaten, they scream they giggle, but then they'll calm down, they cannot sue you for a few dollars (yes 1K $ is few dollars to them) , and by all means this is not good for them.

I am using moneybookers since then , and going to try the e-gold as well.

With best wishes for your dispute to have a good ending.
